Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lou Barlow (ranked 24427 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nikolas Montes (ranked 5351 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Lou Barlow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Nikolas Montes!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Kenichi Hosakawa and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barlow stuffs the takedown.
Montes will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Barlow fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Montes tries for a takedown but Barlow sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Lou Barlow has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nikolas Montes.
Barlow tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Montes manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Montes shoots in for a double leg but Barlow sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Barlow throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

and Barlow counters with a stiff right hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Montes pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Nikolas Montes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Montes.

Montes has closed the distance and engaged Barlow in a clinch.
Barlow tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Montes just stands there and leans against the cage.

Barlow drags the fight down to the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Montes stays in close to Barlow's body and controls the position.
Barlow wants to sweep but no luck.

Montes is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Montes should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Montes gets to his feet - Barlow follows without any prompting.
Barlow jabs Montes right on the nose. Montes blinks but takes it well.

Barlow moves into the clinch.
Montes tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Barlow smiles and moves away.
Barlow misses with a kick to the body.
Montes tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Montes shoots in looking for a takedown but Barlow manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Montes's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Montes tries a head kick but it misses.

Barlow rushes Montes and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Montes breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Barlow closes the distance and pushes Montes back into the cage.

Barlow displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Montes.
Montes looks winded!
Barlow lands with a kick to the temple. Montes shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Barlow stuffs the takedown.

Montes steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Barlow.
Montes shoots in and drives through. Barlow sprawls well.
Barlow is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Montes can do to turn this around?

Montes has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Barlow regains guard immediately.
Barlow lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Barlow accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Montes is on top in guard.

Montes postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Barlow is working an open guard so Montes takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Barlow wants to clinch but Montes slips to the side
and Montes counters with a series of strikes. Barlow will be more careful next time no doubt.
Montes fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Barlow avoids it really well and circles away.
Montes is breathing heavily.
Montes avoids a kick to the body.
Lou Barlow is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A jab from Barlow does it's job there.
Barlow steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Montes.

Montes darts in and clinches Barlow up against the cage.
Barlow is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Barlow tries to pull guard but Montes forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Montes ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Montes no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Montes bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Barlow's guard.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Barlow lands with a thumping leg kick.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Montes.
Barlow tries to counter with a takedown but Montes is quick to defend against it.
Montes throws a combination. Barlow tries to block but a couple of punches get through.


It looks like Lou Barlow has been cut.
Montes shoots in but no luck this time.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Barlow.
Montes is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Barlow tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Montes manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Montes tries to counter with a clinch but Barlow shakes him off and moves away.

Barlow shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Barlow was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Montes changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Barlow tries to avoid it but Montes manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Barlow to the ground. Barlow escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Montes circles away from the clinch attempt.
The fight stays on the outside here - Barlow looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

The fighters circle momentarily. Barlow darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Barlow misses with a two punch combination.
Montes shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Barlow as he avoids it easily.

Barlow closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Montes misses with a body punch.
Barlow is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Montes keeps control of Barlow as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Barlow jumps guard but Montes stands there with Barlow around his waist. Barlow gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Montes lands a good knee to the midsection. Barlow won't want to take too many of those.
Montes keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Barlow's efforts to push away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Montes escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

And that's the end of the fight!
Nikolas Montes comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Montes has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
