Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tyler McCarthy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Mitchell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that James Mitchell was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tyler McCarthy! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James Mitchell! The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Damien Edna and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mitchell stuffs the takedown. Mitchell takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Mitchell misses with a hook. McCarthy ducked under it nicely. McCarthy showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Mitchell.
McCarthy changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mitchell tries to avoid it but McCarthy manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mitchell to the ground. Mitchell escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Mitchell looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. McCarthy misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tyler McCarthy. That's going to take a lot out of him. Mitchell wants to clinch up but McCarthy keeps it at a distance. McCarthy will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Mitchell moves into the clinch. Mitchell tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. McCarthy just stands there and leans against the cage. Mitchell wants to break free but McCarthy has control.

McCarthy is pushing Mitchell up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. McCarthy escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
That's one minute gone in the round. McCarthy swats away the attempt to clinch by Mitchell. McCarthy fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mitchell manages to avoid it. Some wild striking there from Mitchell.
Mitchell shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in McCarthy's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mitchell drops back looking for a leg! McCarthy is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and McCarthy manages to kick Mitchell off! Mitchell jumps back into McCarthy's guard. Mitchell gets to his feet. McCarthy looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Mitchell scores with the left hand. McCarthy knows he should have avoided that one. Mitchell looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. McCarthy has taken the fight to the clinch.
Mitchell stalls.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McCarthy prevents Mitchell from breaking the clinch. McCarthy wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Mitchell taking a breather. Mitchell wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Mitchell lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of McCarthy backwards. McCarthy jumps guard but Mitchell stands there with McCarthy around his waist. McCarthy gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round. McCarthy gets to his feet. Mitchell looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! A combination from Mitchell does no damage. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from McCarthy. Mitchell fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
James Mitchell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. McCarthy shoots and misses and Mitchell counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Mitchell misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from McCarthy.
Mitchell looking for a takedown here - he's got it. McCarthy is breathing heavily. Mitchell sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed McCarthy's guard. McCarthy is trying to control but can't.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mitchell is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Mitchell is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Mitchell is thwarting McCarthy's attempts to control the position. Mitchell is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. McCarthy doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Mitchell. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
James Mitchell dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Mitchell rushes McCarthy and presses him up against the cage. McCarthy looking to stall.
Mitchell is pressed up against the cage. McCarthy has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Mitchell down to the mat. Mitchell avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Mitchell digs a good body shot into McCarthy's ribs. McCarthy throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mitchell throws a one two combo.

Mitchell lands a straight punch to the body, keeping McCarthy at a distance.
Mitchell wants to clinch up but McCarthy keeps it at a distance. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Mitchell lands a nice looking body shot.
Mitchell moves into range and connects with a jab.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mitchell looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for McCarthy! McCarthy has left one of his arms exposed and Mitchell doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. McCarthy screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
