Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jim McNulty (ranked 2248 p4p, 248 weight class) and Tyron Woody (ranked 1729 p4p, 202 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jim McNulty! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tyron Woody! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Kenichi Hosakawa and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A swing and a miss from Woody. An attempted straight right counter from McNulty misses the target. McNulty takes one to the chin there. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Woody has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Woody waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract McNulty. Woody misses the shot to the body. McNulty quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect. Woody misses with a hook. Woody misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from McNulty.
McNulty throws a head kick that misses. Woody appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. McNulty throws a wild body kick that Woody sees coming a mile off. Woody let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Woody throws a sloppy body shot
and McNulty counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. McNulty uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Woody.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Woody throws a lazy uppercut
and McNulty counters with a body kick that stops Woody in his tracks momentarily. McNulty avoids the body shot from Woody.
McNulty tries to sprawl but Woody drives through with a takedown into half guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. McNulty is not content to let Woody control the position. McNulty is looking to improve his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Woody is sneakily working for an arm triangle but McNulty sees it coming and defends easily. Woody is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and McNulty reverses the position - he's now on top in Woody's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. McNulty stopping the sweep attempt from Woody. McNulty wants to control from the top but Woody keeps moving. Woody wants to sweep but no luck. McNulty pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Woody is keeping the position for now. McNulty got a little sloppy there for a moment and Woody has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, McNulty has managed to get both his arms back between Woody's legs - danger averted.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McNulty is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Woody looking for a sweep. Not yet Woody, not yet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Woody has his hands on McNulty's head, controlling the position. Woody tries to land a sweep but no joy. Woody trying to keep a closed guard but McNulty is proving a slippery customer.
Woody looking to hit a scissor sweep but McNulty is one step ahead there. McNulty sitting in guard here, content to control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McNulty advances to half guard. Woody tries to get to full guard but McNulty has control of the leg. Woody actively working from the bottom here. Woody tries to roll over but McNulty keeps him under control. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Woody is still trying to improve position. McNulty with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Woody tries to get to full guard but McNulty has control of the leg.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Woody trying to control from the bottom.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Woody misses with a hook. McNulty throwing a counter right hand but Woody manages to avoid it. Woody fails with an attempt to clinch.

and McNulty counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Woody misses with a jab to the body
and McNulty counters with a stiff right hand. Woody fakes high and swings low for a body shot but McNulty manages to avoid it. McNulty appears to be looking for a big counter. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. McNulty slips under a jab. Woody jabbing away but nothing is landing. McNulty throws a quick counter kick to the body but Woody avoids it. A punch combination from Woody misses. Woody instigates a clinch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Tyron Woody will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!

enabling McNulty to counter with a crisp jab. McNulty moves out of range as Woody strikes. McNulty missing with a left hand there. Woody was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Woody throws a hook but McNulty avoids it easily. McNulty swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Good exchange - Woody coming out on top. Woody throws a lazy uppercut
and McNulty counters with a slapping leg kick. Woody tries to clinch up and McNulty counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Jim McNulty is winning the standup battle so far. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Woody swings and misses with a hook to the body.

and McNulty counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Woody misses with a looping left. Woody throws a shot to the body.
Woody throws out a loose jab but McNulty uses good head movement to avoid it. McNulty appears to be looking for a big counter.
That's one minute gone in the round. Woody cracks McNulty with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Woody fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
McNulty feints and then cracks Woody's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Woody down. Woody comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. McNulty throws a wild body kick that Woody sees coming a mile off. McNulty fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Woody just misses with a punch to the body.
Woody throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A swing and a miss from Woody. As Woody backs away, McNulty returns fire with a leg kick that just misses. Tyron Woody seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. McNulty avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Woody dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Woody clinches up with McNulty and pushes him back against the cage. McNulty misses with a hook to the ribs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McNulty blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Woody lands a body punch in the clinch. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Woody takes a shot to the head. Woody tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. McNulty smiles and moves away.

and McNulty counters with a nice low kick that buckles Woody's knee momentarily. Woody misses with a hook
and McNulty counters with a nice uppercut. Woody throws a lazy uppercut
and McNulty counters with an outside leg kick.
McNulty lands with a thumping leg kick.
Left hook, right uppercut from Woody. McNulty looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. McNulty will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
A looping hook to the body misses from McNulty. Woody does a little dance to reset his feet. McNulty misses with a head kick.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Woody tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Woody swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and McNulty counters with a thumping low kick. Woody misses with a body shot.
McNulty moves into range and connects with a jab. Woody throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
McNulty throws a counter high kick but Woody was just alert enough to avoid it. Woody tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. McNulty manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. McNulty looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger. Woody misses with a jab, cross combination.

and McNulty counters with a lovely straight right hand! Woody clinches up with McNulty and pushes him back against the cage. Woody struggles to land a body shot inside as McNulty controls his hands.

Woody turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Woody manages to end up in side control. This has been an exciting period of action! Woody trying to control the action but McNulty is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Woody might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control McNulty haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Woody just content to control the position. Woody trying to control the action but McNulty is working from the bottom. Woody wants to control for a moment but McNulty uses the opportunity to move back to half guard. McNulty tries to roll over but Woody keeps him under control. McNulty is trying to control but Woody passes into side control!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Tyron Woody will probably get the nod - 10:9. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Woody misses with a shot to the body enabling McNulty to counter with a crisp jab. Woody looks to score with a jab to the body but McNulty is just out of range. Woody misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from McNulty.
Woody fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. McNulty looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Woody misses with an uppercut. McNulty jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit. Woody closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. McNulty did well to prevent Woody getting side control. The fighters are battling for position here. McNulty manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Woody has gone for a leg lock! McNulty slips out almost immediately though and dives into Woody's guard.
Woody escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McNulty gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Woody looking for a guillotine here but McNulty defends easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Woody wants to sweep here but McNulty controlling him for the moment. Woody throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Woody wants to control the position but McNulty says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard. Jim McNulty overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Woody tries to roll over but McNulty keeps him under control. Woody manages to get to full guard.
McNulty stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Woody swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. McNulty passes easily into side control. Nice work. Woody tries to improve position but can't. McNulty remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. McNulty wants to control but Woody is keeping him busy. Woody is looking to regain half guard here but McNulty keeps moving and retains side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Woody is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on McNulty's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. McNulty prevents Woody from improving his position. Woody is pressing down on McNulty's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Woody looking for a sweep. Not yet Woody, not yet. Tyron Woody is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. McNulty controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Woody has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Woody wants to sweep here but McNulty controlling him for the moment. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Woody is on top in guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McNulty controls Woody momentarily but Woody frees himself. Woody content to stall in guard here. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! McNulty has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Woody has passed into side control.
And that's the end of the fight! Tyron Woody comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Woody has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
