PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jared LaDaddio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Flavio Avelino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jared LaDaddio!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Flavio Avelino!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Daniel Cesar and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Avelino changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. LaDaddio tries to avoid it but Avelino manages to keep hold of a leg and drag LaDaddio to the ground. LaDaddio escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Excellent takedown into side control there by LaDaddio.

LaDaddio stands up.
Avelino shoots and misses

and LaDaddio counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Avelino looking for a guillotine here but LaDaddio defends easily.

LaDaddio closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Avelino to the mat! Avelino manages to get full guard.
LaDaddio passes Avelino's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

LaDaddio seems to be looking for submissions.

Avelino is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but LaDaddio pulls his head out easily.

LaDaddio is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Avelino is looking to escape.

LaDaddio stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

LaDaddio darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Avelino manages to get to full guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as LaDaddio accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
LaDaddio working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Avelino's head.

Avelino looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Avelino looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but LaDaddio puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Avelino tries to kick LaDaddio off in order to stand up. LaDaddio Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

You can see the frustration on Avelino's face as LaDaddio controls the position.
Avelino is trying to get back to his feet.
LaDaddio could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
LaDaddio lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
LaDaddio wants to lay and pray for a moment but Avelino keeps working.

Avelino sneaks out the side door and pushes LaDaddio away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

and LaDaddio counters with a single leg into guard. Avelino didn't expect that.
Jared LaDaddio has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Flavio Avelino.

Avelino had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. LaDaddio is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Avelino Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take LaDaddio's back instead.
LaDaddio looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
LaDaddio might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Avelino shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in LaDaddio's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Jared LaDaddio is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
LaDaddio stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Avelino swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well LaDaddio has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
