PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pearl Whites (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick Gators (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Whites comes to the cage accompanied by Enter Sandman. Gators has chosen NINJA STYLE as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Pearl Whites!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rick Gators!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whites throws a combination. Gators tries to block but a couple of punches get through.


It looks like Rick Gators has been cut.
Gators misses with a double jab.
Gators bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
The fight stays on the outside here - Gators looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Gators throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Whites's waist but Whites gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gators off to one side.
Whites throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Whites is looking to clinch.
Whites stuffs the takedown.
Whites swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Whites throws a left and a right that both miss
and Gators counters with a nice body kick.
Pearl Whites seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

letting Gators counter with a right hand.
Whites fails in his attempt to clinch.

Gators takes the fight into the clinch.
Whites throws a punch but it's blocked by Gators.
A looping hook to the body misses from Whites. Gators does a little dance to reset his feet.
A combination from Whites does no damage.
Gators shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Pearl Whites has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rick Gators.

Gators fails with an attempt to clinch.

Whites closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Whites lands in his opponent's guard.
Gators looks gassed!
Gators trying to keep a closed guard but Whites is proving a slippery customer.
Whites is working Gators over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Gators wants to get back to his feet but Whites passes into half guard.

Whites trying to control from half guard but Gators is working away.
Gators really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Whites. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Whites takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Whites decides to return to a standing position.
Gators doesn't manage to clinch there - Whites circles away.
Gators avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Whites takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Whites throws a combination that misses
letting Gators counter with a right hand.
Gators doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Whites counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Whites has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Gators on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Whites controlling the action here.
Whites landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Whites takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Whites winds up and cracks Gators with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Gators is trying to get back to full guard.
Whites wants to take a breather but Gators is having none of it.
Whites looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Gators with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Whites is looking to take a break and control but Gators is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Whites is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Whites wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gators keeps working.
Whites lands strikes from half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Gators is trying to stand back up but Whites is controlling him
Gators wants to control but Whites is keeping busy.
Gators taking some punishment here, with Whites in his half guard.
Whites looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Whites lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Whites seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Whites takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Whites works his way into side control.
Whites working the body and head with strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Rick Gators's cut.
That's time! Whites's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Gators throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Whites fails in his attempt to clinch.
Whites stuffs the takedown attempt from Gators. Gators gets slowly back to his feet.

Gators closes the distance and pushes Whites back into the cage.
Whites swings wildly with an uppercut but Gators uses good head movement to avoid it.
Whites misses with a hook from the clinch.
Gators blocks an uppercut.
Gators misses with a knee strike.
Gators looking to slow down the pace here.
Whites misses with a short punch on the inside.
Gators is breathing heavily.
Whites throws a head punch that misses.
Gators blocks a punch to the side of the head.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Whites.

Gators wants to break free but Whites has control.

Whites has had enough of the clinch but Gators keeps him there for the moment.

Gators pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Gators wants to clinch up but Whites keeps it at a distance.
Gators throws a right and a left that both miss.
Gators dodges the punch combination from Whites.
Whites throws a leg kick that is checked

and Gators counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Gators is posturing up here but Whites has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Gators tries to roll out but it's too tight and Gators has to tap! Slick submission there by Whites!
