Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Davin Driscol!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, al Costa!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Eddie Farnsworth and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Costa misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Costa misses with a jab, cross combination.
It looked like Driscol was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Costa.
Sloppy strikes from Costa. Those never looked like landing.
Driscol is looking to counter punch.

Costa shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Driscol's guard.

Driscol looking for a guillotine here but Costa defends easily.
Costa trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Driscol escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Costa gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Driscol working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Costa doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Costa manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Costa stands up and waves to Driscol to follow him.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Driscol wants to get back to striking at distance but Costa won't allow it.

Driscol jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Costa walks away with a smile on his face. Driscol gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Davin Driscol. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Driscol shoots in for a takedown but Costa shows good takedown defense.
Costa tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Driscol is breathing heavily.

Driscol closes the distance and pushes Costa back into the cage.

Driscol is fighting off a takedown attempt but Costa is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Driscol to the mat. Driscol regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Costa is stalling in the full guard.
Costa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Driscol swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Driscol might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Costa's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Costa is working Driscol over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Driscol is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Costa misses with a few strikes there.
Costa looks to land a combination but Driscol avoids it well.

Costa gets tackled into the cage by Driscol. Driscol maintains the clinch.

Driscol has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Costa is trying to keep an underhook but Driscol manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Costa kicks off Driscol and gets to his feet.
Costa throws out a loose jab but Driscol uses good head movement to avoid it.
Costa rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Driscol moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Driscol dodges the punch combination from Costa.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Driscol enables Costa to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Driscol manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Costa is stalling in the full guard.
Driscol looking for a sweep. Not yet Driscol, not yet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Costa forces his way into half guard.
Driscol is looking to get back to full guard here but Costa has managed to pass to side control instead.
Driscol is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
al Costa has got the better of the ground game so far.

Driscol bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Driscol fails with an attempt to clinch.
No joy there for Driscol, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Nice straight punches there by Costa. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Costa.

Costa gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Costa breaks from the clinch.

Costa clinches up with Driscol and pushes him back against the cage.
Driscol fails to pull guard.

Costa breaks the clinch.

Costa clinches.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Costa pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Costa shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Driscol manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Costa keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Driscol tries for a takedown. No joy.

Costa wants the takedown. Driscol is fighting it off but Costa persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Driscol's guard against the cage.
Driscol is wriggling around but Costa manages to pass to half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Costa is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Driscol is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
