1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hiro Takayama! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Seu Braga and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Masterson lands a head kick. Takayama smiles back at him and beckons him forward. A big head kick from Masterson and Takayama is sent sprawling to the canvas!
Takayama is rocked! Masterson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Takayama is proving hard to escape from. Takayama is still in real trouble! Can Masterson finish him? Masterson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Takayama is controlling Masterson's posture. Masterson tries to stand but Takayama is controlling from the bottom. Takayama seems to have recovered his senses. Takayama seems keen to control Masterson's posture.
That's one minute gone in the round. Masterson would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Takayama controlling Masterson's posture. Takayama working for a triangle but Masterson defends it easily.

Masterson would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Masterson is fighting to break Takayama's control of his arms but Takayama is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Let's hope that Takayama has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Takayama wants to sweep but no luck. Masterson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Takayama holds on and takes a little breather.

Despite being in the dominant position, Hiro Takayama just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Masterson fails in his attempt to clinch. Masterson misses with a head kick.
Takayama fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Masterson manages to avoid it. Takayama swats away the attempt to clinch by Masterson. Takayama shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Takayama was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Takayama controlling his opponent. Masterson is trying to get to the ropes to help him get back to his feet.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Takayama sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Masterson takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Despite being in the dominant position, Hiro Takayama just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Masterson wants to clinch. Takayama looks to score with a jab to the body but Masterson is just out of range. Masterson lands with a kick to the temple. Takayama shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Nice takedown defense from Masterson. No joy for Takayama on that attempt.

Takayama will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Masterson throws a nice head kick!
Takayama swats away the attempt to clinch by Masterson. Ned Masterson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Masterson is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Masterson lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Takayama avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Takayama looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Masterson! Takayama looking to control and managing it successfully. Masterson really wants to buck Takayama off and get back to his feet.

Hiro Takayama dominated that round. That's time! Masterson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Masterson throws a combination. Takayama tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Takayama scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Takayama not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Takayama keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Masterson is in trouble now - Takayama has advanced to mount! Masterson in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Takayama controlling from the full mount. Masterson really wants to buck Takayama off and get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Masterson trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Poor strikes thrown by Takayama there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Masterson tries to clinch up. A head kick misses from Masterson. Masterson throws a lazy right hand but Takayama sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Masterson moves in looking to clinch but Takayama pushes him off. Masterson fakes the leg kick and cracks Takayama in the body. Masterson wants to clinch. Takayama keeps the fight on the outside.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Masterson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Masterson throws a head kick that misses. Takayama instigates a clinch. Takayama tightens his grip and picks Masterson up, before dumping him to the ground. Masterson manages to land in guard. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Takayama passes Masterson's left leg - he's now in half guard. Still in half guard, Takayama seems content to control. Masterson tries to kick Takayama off but Takayama keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Takayama content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Masterson is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Takayama scores with a couple of nice shots.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Well, if Takayama is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Masterson is not content to let Takayama control the position. Masterson wants to get back to his feet.
That's six minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Hiro Takayama has got the better of the ground game so far. Takayama throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Takayama not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Takayama content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Takayama is looking to take a break and control but Masterson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Masterson scores with a nice right hand.
Masterson closes the distance but Takayama moves to the side and Takayama decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Masterson's guard.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Takayama prevents Masterson from getting back to his feet. Takayama with a flurry of punches that miss. Takayama seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

That's nine minutes gone in the round. Takayama shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Takayama looking to control and managing it successfully. Takayama's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Takayama unloading with bombs! The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Takayama cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Takayama controlling from mount. Ned Masterson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Takayama in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
And that's the end of the fight! Hiro Takayama comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Takayama has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
