Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Connor McGregor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Fuzzy Dunlop!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Sandra Marshall and Peter Branson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGregor looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
McGregor takes one on the button.
A head kick from McGregor lands but Dunlop takes it in his stride.
McGregor slips a jab from Dunlop.
A left lands for McGregor.
Dunlop shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says McGregor as he avoids it easily.
McGregor uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Dunlop.
McGregor thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Dunlop if he has to take too many more of those.
McGregor throws a body punch but Dunlop moves out of range.
Dunlop takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
McGregor definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from McGregor, right into the meat.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Dunlop misses with an uppercut
letting McGregor counter with a right hand.
Dunlop is rocked!
Dunlop misses with a looping right.
McGregor throws a head kick that Dunlop semi-blocks.
Dunlop is still on wobbly legs! Can McGregor finish him?
McGregor steps in with a hook that catches Dunlop right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! McGregor follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Dunlop looks absolutely devastated.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Connor McGregor!
Connor McGregor decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
