Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
27 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Eddie Brock!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jules Gignac!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Taro Takaoka and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brock feints and then cracks Gignac's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Gignac down.
Gignac tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Brock paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Gignac is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Brock tries a head kick but it misses.
Gignac wants to clinch up but Brock keeps it at a distance.
Brock stuns Gignac with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
A slapping leg kick lands for Brock.
Gignac fails in his attempt to clinch.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Brock.
The fight stays on the outside here - Gignac looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
A counter left hand to the body from Brock misses its target.
Gignac moves in looking to clinch but Brock pushes him off.
Gignac fails with an attempt to clinch.
Gignac tries to clinch but Brock moves out of range.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gignac has Brock up against the cage in a clinch.
Brock turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Brock manages to end up in side control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Brock wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Gignac, who protects the arm well.
Brock is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Gignac is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Brock in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Gignac is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Eddie Brock!
A relieved looking Eddie Brock thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
