Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ron Burgundy (ranked 1580 p4p, 239 weight class) and Hank Lombard (ranked 1496 p4p, 224 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
60 - 25 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Ron Burgundy! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
21 - 14 - 1, fighting out of London, Hank Lombard! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Robert Douchet and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lombard tries a head kick but it misses.
Burgundy throws a quick counter kick to the body but Lombard avoids it. Lombard jabs Burgundy right on the nose. Burgundy blinks but takes it well.
It looks like Ron Burgundy has been cut. Lombard scores with a head kick.
Lombard lands with a slapping head kick. Lombard shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Burgundy swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Lombard connects with an inside leg kick. Burgundy fails to land with a series of punches.
Burgundy throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Lombard throws a fast counter high kick but Burgundy manages to duck under it in time. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Lombard scores with a sloppy right hand. Burgundy should have avoided that one. Lombard throws a sloppy head kick and Burgundy moves out of range easily. Lombard lands a nice leg kick that just misses Burgundy's sensitive parts. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Oooooh!!! Burgundy has knocked Lombard down with a huge combo! Burgundy steps away and waves a wobbly Lombard back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
It looks like Hank Lombard has been cut. Lombard looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Lombard is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Burgundy pushes Lombard off looking to stand but Lombard dives back in and keeps control.

That's one minute gone in the round. Burgundy is staying active underneath Lombard, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Lombard wants to pass to mount but Burgundy is defending the position. Burgundy is trying to stand up here but Lombard is controlling him well. Lombard is controlling the pace.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lombard trying to control the action but Burgundy is working from the bottom.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Lombard scores with the left hand. Burgundy knows he should have avoided that one. Burgundy throws a shot from downtown. Lombard moves away and avoids it. Burgundy digs a good body shot into Lombard's ribs. Lombard misses with a body kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Burgundy defending well as Lombard loads up on a big left hand. Burgundy throws a right and a left that Lombard avoids nicely. Lombard looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Lombard drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Lombard looking to pass the guard. Lombard stops Burgundy from standing up. Lombard tries to free his leg and advance position but Burgundy is retaining full guard. Lombard trying to control the position from guard on top but Burgundy is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Lombard looking to pass the guard. Lombard stays in close to Burgundy's body and controls the position. Lombard wants to pass the guard but Burgundy is keeping the position. Lombard stands and throws Burgundy's legs to the side, diving into side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Burgundy trying to remain calm as Lombard controls from the top position. Lombard is looking for a kimura. He might have it! Lombard is looking to take a break and control but Burgundy is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Lombard tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Burgundy seems a little lost for a moment, as Lombard dominates the positioning.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Lombard's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Burgundy is not content to let Lombard control the position. Lombard taking a breather here. Lombard trying to control the action but Burgundy is working from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Hank Lombard dominated that round. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Lombard throws a nice head kick!
Burgundy moves forwards but Lombard connects with a nice, crisp jab. Hank Lombard seems to be getting the better of the standup. Burgundy avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Lombard looking to land some kicks to the body here.
A big left from Lombard misses. Good exchange - Burgundy coming out on top. Burgundy's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Lombard connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Burgundy scrambles back to his feet. Burgundy blocks a jab. Burgundy lunges at Lombard with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Lombard's hand.
That has opened up Hank Lombard's cut even more. Burgundy blocks a low kick nicely. Lombard has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Burgundy throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Burgundy tried to score with a low kick but Lombard checks it. Lombard looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Lombard throws a head kick that misses and Burgundy counters with a left and a right that stings Lombard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Burgundy throws a series of punches but Lombard moves out of range. Lombard lands a nice looking body kick. Lombard scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Burgundy lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
The cut above Hank Lombard's eye is starting to cause him problems now. Lombard throws a lazy right hand but Burgundy sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Burgundy misses with a two punch combination.
That's one minute gone in the round. Burgundy looks to land a right hand but Lombard moved out of range. Lombard bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. A little jabbing left from Lombard on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. A head kick misses from Lombard. Lombard buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Lombard walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Hank Lombard's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters. Lombard dips to his left and cracks Burgundy with an uppercut! Burgundy lands a big right hand that sends Lombard crashing to the mat! Burgundy stays standing though and waves Lombard back to his feet!
Lombard is rocked!
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Hank Lombard's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
