The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Naruhiko takes a swing at O'Phoenix's ribcage but misses. Naruhiko stuns O'Phoenix with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Patrick O'Phoenix seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. O'Phoenix shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Naruhiko as he jumps to the side. O'Phoenix fails miserably with a takedown attempt. O'Phoenix tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Naruhiko defends well and O'Phoenix ends up having to push Naruhiko into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Patrick O'Phoenix. That's going to take a lot out of him. O'Phoenix shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Naruhiko sprawls well. Naruhiko wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. O'Phoenix gets slowly back to his feet. O'Phoenix misses with a takedown attempt so Naruhiko counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Naruhiko must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Naruhiko lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Naruhiko stays in close to O'Phoenix's body and controls the position. Naruhiko lands a couple of digs. O'Phoenix looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Naruhiko content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
That's one minute gone in the round. Naruhiko lands a couple of decent looking shots. O'Phoenix escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Naruhiko gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Naruhiko connects with a couple of short punches. Naruhiko working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of O'Phoenix's head. Naruhiko landing with the ground and pound. Naruhiko working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
O'Phoenix is rocked! Naruhiko is working O'Phoenix over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Oh O'Phoenix is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Naruhiko avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Naruhiko really doesn't want to stay on the ground with O'Phoenix. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Naruhiko works over O'Phoenix with some ground and pound from guard. Naruhiko postures up, still in guard. A huge hammer fist lands that bounces O'Phoenix's head off the mat! O'Phoenix is out! He's out! Naruhiko jumps to his feet and celebrates with his corner!
