Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
20 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Mike Thomas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Patrick Thompson! The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Alyssa Summers and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No luck for Thomas with that takedown attempt. Thomas misses with a low kick. Thomas bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Thompson can't do much from the bottom here. Thompson is trying to improve his position. Thompson can't do much from the bottom here. Thompson takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Thomas wants to lay and pray for a moment but Thompson keeps working. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Thompson is working to avoid the ground and pound but Thomas connects with a decent elbow.
It looks like Patrick Thompson has been cut. Thomas creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! Thomas thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Thomas wants to control but Thompson is keeping him busy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Thompson is trying to improve his position. Thomas has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Thomas misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
You can see the frustration on Thompson's face as Thomas controls the position. Thompson is trying to improve his position. Thomas looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Thomas is trying to get an arm triangle but Thompson is defending well. Thompson manages to get back to half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Thompson is not content to let Thomas control the position. Thomas thows a huge punch but Thompson dodges it nicely.

Thomas is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Thomas has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Thomas frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Thomas lands with some strikes. Thompson is trying to escape the mount.
Thomas pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Thomas unloading with bombs! Thomas lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Thompson keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Thomas working for a guillotine from mount but Thompson is in no mood to give up. Whack. That's a big, big shot from Thomas! Thompson is out cold! This one is all over!
