Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Fermin Vasquez (ranked 7893 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rodger Beltrad (ranked 4058 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Fermin Vasquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rodger Beltrad!
The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Ben Hemmingworth and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Beltrad shoots in and bounces Vasquez off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Beltrad not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Vasquez thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Vasquez throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Vasquez is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Beltrad's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Beltrad not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Beltrad is working Vasquez over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Vasquez is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Beltrad defends well.

Beltrad stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Vasquez swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Vasquez wants to sweep here but Beltrad controlling him for the moment.
Vasquez can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Beltrad controls the pace.

Beltrad chips away with some ground and pound.
Vasquez throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Vasquez had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Beltrad defends it easily.
Vasquez is trying to control the position but Beltrad postures up.
Beltrad is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Beltrad's corner is telling him to maintain position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Beltrad scores with a takedown into Vasquez's guard.
Beltrad not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Vasquez is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Beltrad defends well.
Vasquez will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Vasquez is striking off his back. Beltrad thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.
Vasquez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Beltrad looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Beltrad tries to pass to full mount but Vasquez defends it.

Beltrad looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Vasquez with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Vasquez tries to get to full guard but Beltrad has control of the leg.
Beltrad lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Vasquez has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Beltrad is working away from the top position though.
Beltrad wants to free his trapped foot but Vasquez is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Beltrad seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Beltrad works his way into side control.
Vasquez can't do much from the bottom here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Beltrad content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Vasquez tries to buck Beltrad off but Beltrad is having none of it.
Vasquez gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Vasquez taking shots to the head.
Vasquez takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.


Vasquez is rocked!
Beltrad lands a big elbow - Vasquez is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Vasquez is forced to tap out!
