PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Satpal Singh (ranked 5618 p4p, 505 weight class) and Mo Mo (ranked 4575 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Satpal Singh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mo Mo!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Dean Styles and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mo shoots in and bounces Singh off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Singh bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mo's guard.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Mo has eaten all the pies!
Singh works over Mo with some ground and pound from guard.

Mo working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Singh has passed into half guard!
Mo is staying active underneath Singh, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Mo wants to control but Singh is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Singh is taking a breather. Mo says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Mo has a hand on Singh's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Singh takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Singh tries to control but Mo wriggling away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mo is wriggling around trying to escape.
Singh controlling from mount.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Singh stands up from mount. Strange move.

Singh drives through with a takedown into guard.

Singh got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mo has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Singh has managed to get both his arms back between Mo's legs - danger averted.

Singh stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Singh misses with a jab, cross combination.
Mo throws a right and a left that both miss.
Mo looks to land a combination but Singh avoids it well.
Mo looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Mo looks winded!
Mo throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Singh on the side of the head.
Mo Mo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mo is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Singh.

Singh clinches up against the cage.
Mo is working for takedown but Singh is calmly controlling the position for now.
A right hook to the body lands for Singh.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Singh drags the fight down to the ground.
Singh is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Mo is looking for a sweep. Singh is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Mo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Singh. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Mo is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Singh scores with a couple of nice shots.
Singh seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Singh perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Singh has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mo can do anything to dispel that myth.

Singh is looking for a kimura here.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Singh is taking a breather. Mo says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Singh is looking to take a break and control but Mo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Mo looking for submissions off his back.
Singh passes to side control.
You can see the frustration on Mo's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Mo is looking for a sweep.
Singh working away.
Singh wants to control but Mo is keeping him busy.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mo is trying to improve his position.
Mo tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Singh wants to control the pace but Mo is squirming around nicely.
Mo keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Singh lands with some strikes.

Singh working for a guillotine from mount but Mo is in no mood to give up.
Singh controlling the pace for now.
Mo tries to reverse the position but Singh maintains control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Satpal Singh dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Mo gets caught napping as Singh dives in and scores a takedown. Mo manages to retain guard.
Singh is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Mo can do to turn this around?
Singh is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Singh forces his way into half guard.

Singh moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Mo.
Mo tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Singh presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Mo keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Mo is trying to reverse the position but instead Singh has taken his back - oops!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Singh's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Singh is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Mo is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
I really don't envy Mo right now.

Mo has hold of Singh's leg, trying to break free but it's let Singh lock up a rear naked choke! This could be big trouble! Mo is turning an unusual color here… he's out! Singh throws him to one side and jumps onto the cage to celebrate with his fans.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:35 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Satpal Singh!
