Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Daniel Cormier!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Eddie Farnsworth and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pearsons slips a jab and a cross from Cormier.
Pearsons is looking to counter with a body kick.
Cormier keeps the fight on the outside.

Cormier drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Pearsons is trying to control Cormier's posture but Cormier avoids it.
Pearsons is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Cormier off and has taken his back!
Pearsons not allowing Cormier to control his hands.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A lull in the action here.

Cormier is in bad spot here.
Pearsons lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Cormier tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Cormier is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Pearsons looking to control but Cormier is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Cormier tries to reverse the position but Pearsons maintains control.
Cormier tries to lock up and control but Pearsons gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Cormier is wriggling around trying to escape.
Cormier holds on for dear life.
Pearsons tries to control but Cormier wriggling away.
Pearsons avoids the attempt from Cormier to control.
Cormier really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Cormier's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Pearsons looking to finish Cormier with some ground and pound. This is bad for Cormier!
Cormier really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Cormier holds on, trying desperately to control.
Cormier is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Pearsons jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Cormier is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Cormier and Pearsons has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Cormier wants to control but Pearsons postures up.
Cormier is looking for a sweep.
Cormier isn't going anywhere.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Pearsons tries to sprawl but Cormier drives through with a takedown into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cormier closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Pearsons did well to prevent Cormier getting side control.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Cormier is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Pearsons doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Cormier.
Pearsons wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pearsons is looking to improve his position.
Cormier not doing much here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Pearsons fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Pearsons tries to clinch up.

Cormier rushes Pearsons and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Cormier breaks the clinch.
Pearsons avoids a punch combination nicely.

Cormier has managed to clinch.

Cormier has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Pearsons clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Cormier lands strikes to the head.


Pearsons is rocked!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cormier lands a good shot there. Pearsons covers up! Cormier smells blood and goes for the finish - the referee warns Pearsons to improve his position but he's not intelligently defending himself and the referee has no choice but to step in and end the fight! Cormier jumps to his feet and celebrates the important win with his cornermen!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Daniel Cormier!
