Coming up we have a heavyweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Gustav Rehrl (ranked 3424 p4p, 378 weight class) and Asle Viking (ranked 3427 p4p, 374 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Asle Viking! The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Joseph Jones and Eddie Farnsworth.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Viking gets a double leg takedown into Rehrl's guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Rehrl (0) vs (2) Viking The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Viking trying to move into half guard but instead Rehrl has managed to sweep! Rehrl will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Viking wants to sweep here but Rehrl controlling him for the moment. That's seven minutes gone in the round. Rehrl has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Viking escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rehrl gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Viking keeping full guard, as Rehrl tries to pass. That's nine minutes gone in the round. Rehrl sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Viking's guard. Rehrl trying to control the pace. Viking is not content to let Rehrl control the position. Rehrl with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Viking has eaten all the pies! Viking trying to control here.
That's ten minutes gone in the round. Viking is not content to let Rehrl control the position. Viking has his hands clasped together around Rehrl's back. He's all about the action. Viking is defending against the submission attempts here by Rehrl.
Viking moves into full guard.
That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Viking keeping moving, preventing Rehrl from controlling successfully. Viking had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rehrl defends it easily. Rehrl is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Viking controls Rehrl momentarily but Rehrl frees himself.
That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Viking keeping full guard, as Rehrl tries to pass. Viking is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Rehrl wants to control from the top but Viking keeps moving.
That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Viking working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rehrl doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rehrl manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Rehrl is pushing down on Viking's leg trying to pass to half guard. Viking is fighting to maintain full guard but Rehrl has managed to sneak the leg through. Viking wants to improve his position but Rehrl is controlling well.

That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Viking tries to lock up and control but Rehrl gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Rehrl can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Viking is looking to escape. Rehrl has hold of Viking's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Viking manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Viking manages to control the position for a moment.
And that's the end of the fight! Rehrl takes the fight on points by 12 to 6. |
