Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Royce Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Dirk Anderson and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gracie gets a takedown into half guard.

Smit pushes Gracie off looking to stand but Gracie dives back in and keeps control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gracie is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Smit wants to control but Gracie is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Smit is staying active underneath Gracie, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Smit definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Gracie got a little sloppy there for a moment and Smit has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gracie has managed to get both his arms back between Smit's legs - danger averted.

Smit is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Gracie wants to lay and pray for a moment but Smit keeps working.

Smit is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Gracie's leg. Oh but that's left an opportunity for Gracie! He's got an arm triangle... it looks tight! He's rotating and Smit has tapped! This one is allllll over!

During a confident post fight interview, Royce Gracie thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
In defeat, Piet Smit stepped up to the mic, saying 'Winning is not everything, it is the only thing!'.
