Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tito Machida! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bob Sanchez! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Luis Engracia and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Machida moves in looking to clinch but Sanchez pushes him off. Machida wants to clinch up but Sanchez keeps it at a distance. Nice sprawl there from Machida as Sanchez shoots in. Machida is looking to clinch but Sanchez is avoiding it.
Tito Machida seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sanchez looks for a takedown but Machida sprawls well. Machida tries to clinch up. Machida gets caught flat footed, as Sanchez shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Machida wants to stand up but Sanchez is controlling him. Sanchez trying to control the position from guard on top but Machida is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Machida being controlled here, momentarily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sanchez trying to control but Machida is working from the bottom. Sanchez looking to sit in guard and control but Machida gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Sanchez working a defensive guard but Machida passes into half guard.
Sanchez wants to control the action here but instead Machida manages to pass to full mount!
Despite being in the dominant position, Bob Sanchez just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Sanchez clinches with his opponent.
Sanchez tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Sanchez has Machida pushed against the cage. Sanchez fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Tito Machida has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bob Sanchez.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sanchez drops down looking for an ankle pick but Machida pulls his leg out and moves away.
Machida closes the distance looking to clinch and Sanchez counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Sanchez tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Sanchez managing to block the knees to the body from Machida.
Sanchez escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Sanchez shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Sanchez showed some decent athleticism there. Sanchez tries to stand and escape but Machida actually recovers to full guard. Sanchez looks gassed! Sanchez wants to control from the top but Machida keeps moving.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Machida wants to stand up but Sanchez is controlling him. Sanchez stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Machida has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Sanchez manages to get his head free but now Machida has transitioned to an armbar! Sanchez grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Machida! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!
