PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Levar Draco (ranked 2791 p4p, 315 weight class) and Gino Trecozze (ranked 2828 p4p, 320 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Levar Draco!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gino Trecozze!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Aafke Stam and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Trecozze closes this distance looking for a takedown but Draco circles away.
Draco has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Fallen Angels in the buildup to the fight.
Draco throws a body shot but no joy.
Trecozze shoots in for a takedown but Draco shows good takedown defense.
Draco pivots, looking for a leg kick but Trecozze is out of range and Draco settles back down.
Trecozze feints the counter takedown.
Draco misses with a head kick.
Draco connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Trecozze shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Draco napping and manages to drive through into side control!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Trecozze is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Draco sees it coming and defends easily.

Draco rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Trecozze moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Trecozze drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Draco defends it well.

Trecozze takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Draco throws a nice outside leg kick.
Trecozze fails with a takedown attempt.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Trecozze checks a leg kick.
Draco misses the jab.
Trecozze misses with a takedown attempt - Draco sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Draco dips to his left and cracks Trecozze with an uppercut!

Trecozze fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Draco misses with a body shot.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Trecozze is defended easily by Draco.
Draco seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Draco finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Trecozze walks into a left hand.
Trecozze looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Draco is fending him off so far but Trecozze persists. Nope, Draco circles away and we're back to standing.

Draco misses with a double jab
and Trecozze counters with a series of strikes. Draco will be more careful next time no doubt.
Levar Draco is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Draco falls off balance throwing a combination

and Trecozze counters with a nice double leg into side control. Draco won't be happy with that.
Trecozze working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Draco manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Draco decides to stand up.
Trecozze closes the distance and clinches up with Draco, looking for a takedown. Trecozze pushes Draco against the ropes but Draco circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Draco connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Trecozze momentarily.
Draco fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Draco looks to land a combination but Trecozze avoids it well.

and Draco counters with a nice body shot.
Draco stuns Trecozze with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Draco bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Trecozze shoots in for a double leg but Draco sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Levar Draco is winning the standup battle so far.
Draco buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Draco tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Levar Draco seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Draco keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Draco is looking to counter punch.

Draco walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Trecozze checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Trecozze tries to score a power double leg takedown but Draco sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Trecozze somewhat.

Trecozze takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Trecozze misses with a head kick.
Trecozze takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Trecozze fails in his attempt to clinch.
Draco's jab looks to have found its range, popping Trecozze under the eye.
Trecozze shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Draco connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Trecozze takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Trecozze shoots in for a takedown but Draco shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Draco lands with an overhand left.
Trecozze walks into a stiff left hand from Draco.
Draco avoids a punch combination nicely.
It looked like Draco was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The fighters circle, before Draco throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Trecozze's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Draco lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:35 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Kick & Punches). Levar Draco!
Levar Draco was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
Gino Trecozze was interviewed post fight and said 'And so I've lost. It sucks but that's what happened. I promise I'll back, stronger than ever! '.
