Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Quinton Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jakob Van Tripp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Quinton Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jakob Van Tripp!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Ian Loll and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson misses with a takedown attempt - Tripp sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Tripp looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Tripp wants to pass the guard but Jackson is defending well.

Tripp is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Jackson defends it well.
Jackson wants to get back to full guard.
Tripp slows the pace down in half guard.
Tripp wants to pass to mount but Jackson is defending the position.
Jackson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tripp on the ground.
Tripp is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Tripp stands up out of the half guard.
Tripp misses with a takedown

and Jackson counters with a takedown into side control.
Tripp wants to control but Jackson postures up.
Jackson in side control, throwing shots but Tripp defends.

Jackson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Tripp looks gassed!

Tripp tries to strike but it doesn't land.
Tripp is looking to regain half guard here but Jackson keeps moving and retains side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jackson tries to stand but Tripp is controlling his head.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Tripp avoids the head kick by Jackson.
Tripp checks the leg kick nicely there.
Jackson throws a half hearted mid kick.
Jackson is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

and Jackson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Tripp's guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Tripp is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Jackson controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Jackson trying to control the position from guard on top but Tripp is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Jackson wants to control from the top but Tripp keeps moving.
Tripp manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jackson manages to get himself to full guard.

Tripp gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Jackson looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Tripp wants to get back to full guard.
Jackson landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Tripp slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Jackson is stalling in the full guard.
Jackson trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Jackson throws a big right hand that misses.

Tripp working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jackson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jackson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Jackson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Jackson lands in his opponent's guard.
Tripp controls Jackson momentarily but Jackson frees himself.
Tripp is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Tripp is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Jackson tries to free his leg and advance position but Tripp is retaining full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Tripp manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Tripp is working for a guillotine from mount but Jackson frees his head quite easily.
Jackson is looking to improve his position but Tripp isn't that keen on the idea.

Tripp with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Jackson is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Jackson tries to hold on but Tripp pushes him away.

Tripp has hold of Jackson's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Jackson manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Jackson is in a horrible position here. Tripp smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Tripp avoids the attempt from Jackson to control.

Tripp is working for a guillotine from mount but Jackson frees his head quite easily.

Tripp wants to control the pace but Jackson is squirming around nicely.
Jackson is trying desperately to improve position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jakob Van Tripp showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Jackson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Jackson throws a head kick but Tripp moves out of range.
Tripp shoots in but Jackson avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Jackson throws a head kick that misses.

Tripp fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jackson sprawls well initially but Tripp persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Tripp is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jackson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Tripp.
Jackson wants to control but Tripp is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Tripp trying to control from half guard but Jackson is working away.

Tripp is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Tripp wants to take a breather but Jackson is having none of it.
Jackson trying to control but Tripp postures up.
Tripp is keen to just control but Jackson is a slippery customer.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Jackson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
No luck for Tripp with that takedown attempt.
Jackson tries to clinch but Tripp moves out of range.
Jackson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Tripp circles away.
Jackson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Tripp was well out of range. Poor timing from Jackson.
Jackson takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Jackson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Tripp makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Jackson lands the left hand.
Tripp tries to clinch up but Jackson circles away and keeps his distance.
Nice takedown defense from Jackson. No joy for Tripp on that attempt.
Quinton Jackson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jakob Van Tripp.
Jackson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Jackson shoots for a double leg takedown but Tripp sprawls well. He's pushed Jackson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
A head kick from Tripp lands but Jackson takes it in his stride.

Tripp moves into the clinch.

Tripp controls Jackson momentarily but Jackson frees himself.
Tripp might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Jackson kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Jackson won't allow Tripp to sweep him here.
Jackson wants to stand but Tripp has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Tripp wants to sweep but no luck.
Quinton Jackson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jackson wants to control from the top but Tripp keeps moving.
Jackson controls from within his opponent's guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jakob Van Tripp comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Tripp has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
