Coming up we have a light heavyweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Takahashi Ryu (ranked 2211 p4p, 274 weight class) and Midnight Rider (ranked 3732 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the light heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Takahashi Ryu! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Hilo, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Midnight Rider! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Chris Downing.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Ryu gets a clinch. Rider goes for a takedown attempt but Ryu pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Rider shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ryu as he avoids it easily. Rider misses with a takedown and Ryu counters with a nice double leg into guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Ryu (2) vs (0) Rider Takahashi Ryu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Midnight Rider. Ryu slips nicely into half guard. Ryu wants to control but Rider is keeping him busy. Ryu is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Rider defends it well. Ryu looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Rider has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Ryu. Oh but Rider has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Ryu goes limp - he's gone! Rider jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
