In the red corner, competing out of Rio de Janeiro, with a TWGC record of 18 wins and 8 losses; Anthony Pettis! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Helsinki, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Noah Jones!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Igor Prikhodko and Dmitry Maklakov.


The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.
Jones fails to land the takedown.

Pettis looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pettis seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jones does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Pettis wants to free his trapped foot but Jones is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Pettis prevents Jones from improving his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones is trying to maintain the position but Pettis is very close to passing his half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jones is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Pettis pulls his head out easily.
Jones is looking for a sweep. Pettis is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Jones is trying to control the position but Pettis postures up.
Pettis looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Pettis wants to pass the guard but Jones is keeping the position.

Pettis stands and throws Jones's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Jones looks to move to half guard but instead Pettis has passed into mount! Damn!

Jones prevents Pettis from taking his back.
Pettis tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Jones tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Pettis takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Jones sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Jones slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Jones is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Pettis is aware though and is defending well.

Jones has his foot on Pettis's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pettis works his way back into a safe position though.

Jones looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pettis is one step ahead there.

Pettis works to advance to full mount. Jones defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Pettis throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Jones has his hands clasped together but Pettis breaks the hold and Jones is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Pettis!
