Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brendan Solomon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Christopher Gaspetoni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brendan Solomon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Christopher Gaspetoni! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Ian Loll and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gaspetoni is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Solomon. Christopher Gaspetoni seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gaspetoni misses with a double jab.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Gaspetoni lands a two punch combo.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Solomon is trying to get an arm triangle but Gaspetoni is defending well. Gaspetoni tries to bench press Solomon off him but Solomon keeps the position. Solomon is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gaspetoni knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Gaspetoni tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Solomon wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Gaspetoni manages to work his way to half guard, despite Solomon's best efforts.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Gaspetoni throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Solomon is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. Solomon slips under a jab. Solomon gets a clinch. Solomon can't get the takedown.

Gaspetoni is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Solomon pulls his head out easily. Gaspetoni flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Solomon stands up from half guard. Solomon throws a combination. Gaspetoni tries to block but a couple of punches get through. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Solomon is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Solomon blocks a jab. Gaspetoni loads up on a big right hand but Solomon slips the punch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Brendan Solomon dominated that round. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. That's time! Solomon's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Solomon lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Solomon. Gaspetoni is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent. Solomon darts in and clinches Gaspetoni up against the cage. Gaspetoni misses with a short punch on the inside. Gaspetoni misses with a punch on the inside.

Gaspetoni breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Nice defenses there by Solomon. Solomon looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Brendan Solomon is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Solomon's corner calls for a 1-2. Solomon obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Solomon walks into a jab. Brendan Solomon is winning the standup battle so far. and Solomon takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Gaspetoni throws a hook to the side of Solomon's head but Solomon sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Gaspetoni uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Solomon.

That's one minute gone in the round. Solomon throws a right hand that Gaspetoni ducks under and follows up with a left that Gaspetoni also avoids with ease. Solomon connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Gaspetoni lands with a nice combination. Solomon backs away looking to recover. Solomon scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Gaspetoni regains full guard. Nicely done. Solomon trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Gaspetoni doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Solomon takes a swing at Gaspetoni's ribcage but misses. Gaspetoni fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Solomon sprawls well initially but Gaspetoni persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Gaspetoni missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Gaspetoni looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Solomon with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Solomon moves into full guard.
Gaspetoni pushes down on Solomon's leg and manages to get into half guard. Gaspetoni thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Gaspetoni is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Gaspetoni lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Solomon defending well as Gaspetoni loads up on a big left hand. Solomon throws a series of punches but Gaspetoni moves out of range. That's one minute gone in the round. Gaspetoni dips to his left and cracks Solomon with an uppercut! Solomon lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Gaspetoni on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Gaspetoni throws a right and a left that Solomon avoids nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nice cross by Gaspetoni. Gaspetoni misses with a looping left. Solomon tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Gaspetoni shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Solomon wants to improve his position but Gaspetoni is controlling well.
Solomon wants to control but Gaspetoni is keeping busy and won't allow it. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Gaspetoni lands a nice short elbow. Gaspetoni not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Gaspetoni throws a strike but Solomon avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Solomon is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Gaspetoni flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Solomon winds up and cracks Gaspetoni with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Solomon will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Gaspetoni punching from the bottom.
Solomon is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Gaspetoni doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Solomon. Gaspetoni manages to get to full guard.
Solomon drops back, looking for a kneebar! Gaspetoni looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Gaspetoni looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Gaspetoni!
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Sloppy strikes there by Gaspetoni. Gaspetoni is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Solomon is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Solomon struggling a bit here. Gaspetoni working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Gaspetoni is trying to ground and pound but Solomon uses the momentary lack of control by Gaspetoni to regain half guard. Solomon slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Brendan Solomon. Well Solomon has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
