Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jeromy Beck (ranked 25174 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dojo Rio (ranked 5157 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Jeromy Beck!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dojo Rio!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Ren Mimura and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rio drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Rio wants to control from the top but Beck keeps moving.
Rio is looking to advance position but Beck has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Beck lands a big shot there that rocks Rio but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Beck working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Rio tries to hold on but Beck postures up.
Beck prevents Rio from getting the reversal.
Rio tries to lock up and control but Beck gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Rio is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Beck is staying active.
Rio should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Beck is in the full mount, landing strikes.

Beck sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Beck goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Rio is on top in guard.
Rio must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Rio wants to stand but Beck is controlling his posture from full guard.
Beck is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Rio is controlling him.
Rio would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Rio is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Rio trying to control the position from guard on top but Beck is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Beck seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Rio sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Beck seems keen to control Rio's posture.
Beck will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Rio passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Beck dodges the ground and pound from Rio.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Rio throws a push kick but Beck slaps the foot to one side.
Dojo Rio seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Beck goes for a double leg but Rio avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Rio continues to drive forward.

Rio fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Beck, pushing him back against the cage.

Rio pulls guard effortlessly.

Beck stands up and waves to Rio to follow him.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Rio fails with a takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Dojo Rio will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Rio tries for a takedown but Beck sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Rio misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Beck is looking to counter the offense by Rio and move into the clinch.
Rio misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Beck gets caught napping as Rio dives in and scores a takedown. Beck manages to retain guard.
Beck is trying to control the position but Rio postures up.
Rio is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Beck holds on and takes a little breather.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Rio tries to free his leg and advance position but Beck is retaining full guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Rio looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Rio is breathing heavily.

Beck keeping moving, preventing Rio from controlling successfully.

Beck manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Horrible takedown attempt by Rio or perhaps it was just good defense by Beck, which made it look bad.
Beck is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Rio.
Jeromy Beck has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dojo Rio.

Beck gets tackled into the cage by Rio. Rio maintains the clinch.
Rio working aggressively here.

Rio trying to land knees to the body.
Rio misses with a punch to the body.

Beck gets control of Rio's arms and successfully pulls guard. Beck will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rio accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Beck gets to his feet. Rio looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Rio shoots for a takedown but Beck saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Rio stuffs the takedown attempt from Beck. Beck gets slowly back to his feet.
Rio wants to counter the offense by Beck and move into the clinch position.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jeromy Beck will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Rio has his takedown stuffed

and Beck moves into the clinch.
Rio is trying to force a seperation but Beck has the dominant position.

Beck ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Beck no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Rio has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Beck is proving hard to escape from.

Rio stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Beck swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Beck is working an open guard so Rio takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Rio shoots in but Beck avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Beck seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Beck shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Rio but Rio pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Beck looks for a takedown but Rio sprawls well.
Beck keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Rio displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Beck.
Rio doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Beck counters by moving into the clinch.

Beck breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Rio clinches with his opponent.

Beck escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Rio goes for a double leg but Beck avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Beck continues to drive forward.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Beck.
