Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Mason Wiley! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Patrick McKinney! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Glass and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McKinney will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Wiley moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. McKinney fails to land the takedown. McKinney lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Wiley backs up against the cage.
McKinney shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Wiley as he avoids it easily. McKinney shoots for a double leg takedown but Wiley sprawls well. He's pushed McKinney's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Wiley is looking for a counter combo. Mason Wiley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Patrick McKinney. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McKinney fails with the takedown. McKinney avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
McKinney misses with a combination
and Wiley counters with a nice double leg into guard. McKinney manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. McKinney scores with a shot to the side of Wiley's head. Wiley has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. McKinney ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. McKinney no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Wiley being controlled here momentarily. Wiley looking to sit in guard and control but McKinney gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Wiley can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as McKinney controls the pace. McKinney won't allow Wiley to get back to his feet. McKinney sitting in guard here, content to control. McKinney is fighting to break Wiley's control of his arms but Wiley is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wiley wants to get back to his feet but McKinney is in a dominant position and won't allow it. McKinney seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Wiley wants to stand up but McKinney is controlling him. Wiley working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. McKinney doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. McKinney manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Wiley looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wiley controls McKinney momentarily but McKinney frees himself. McKinney is stalling in the full guard. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. McKinney throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. McKinney trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. McKinney throwing strikes from guard but Wiley blocks nicely. Wiley wants to stand up but McKinney is controlling him.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. McKinney throws a sloppy head kick and Wiley moves out of range easily. Wiley feinted with a counter takedown. McKinney throws a right and a left that both miss. The fight stays on the outside here - Wiley looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McKinney throws a combination. Wiley tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
It looks like Mason Wiley has been cut. McKinney misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Wiley seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Wiley could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. McKinney displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Wiley checks the leg kick. McKinney tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Wiley seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. McKinney feints a jab promting Wiley to slip. McKinney then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Wiley slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. McKinney misses with a leg kick. Wiley throws a counter high kick but McKinney was just alert enough to avoid it. McKinney avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

McKinney throws a head kick that misses. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Patrick McKinney dominated that round. The cut man is working on Mason Wiley's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Nice takedown defense from Wiley. No joy for McKinney on that attempt. McKinney shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Wiley eats them both and turns towards McKinney to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Wiley is rocked! McKinney lands an uppercut, right on the button! Wiley tumbles backwards into the cage, staring vacantly into space! He's got no idea where he is, who he is or what day it is... Poor guy.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:15 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Patrick McKinney! Patrick McKinney decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
