PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Cain (ranked 2145 p4p, 300 weight class) and Rui Rodrigo Germano (ranked 2767 p4p, 361 weight class). Germano has chosen HIM - Don't Fear The Reaper as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 9 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, David Cain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rui Rodrigo Germano!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Jeff Smith and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Oooooh!!! Cain has knocked Germano down with a huge combo! Cain steps away and waves a wobbly Germano back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!


It looks like Rui Rodrigo Germano has been cut.
Cain is looking to land body kicks.
No joy there for Germano, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Nice uppercut there from Germano.

Cain cracks Germano with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Cain has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Germano to stand back up!


Germano is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Germano scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Cain throws a sloppy head kick and Germano moves out of range easily.
Germano misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Cain.
Cain seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Germano not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Germano is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Germano is nestled in close to Cain, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Germano thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Germano lands with a punch from half guard.
Cain pushes Germano off looking to stand but Germano dives back in and keeps control.

Germano is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Cain has managed to free his arm - good work.
Cain tries to kick Germano off but Germano keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Germano is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Germano not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Germano is looking for a kimura but Cain is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Germano to get the leverage.
Germano thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Cain's head.
Germano stops Cain from getting back to his feet.
Germano is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Germano is working for a submission of some sort.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Germano in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Cain tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Germano!
