Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Kivela (ranked 5205 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kyle Vluehorn (ranked 5266 p4p, 77 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Michael Johnstone and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kivela throws a poor cross that misses
and Vluehorn counters with a series of strikes. Kivela will be more careful next time no doubt.
Vluehorn will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Vluehorn gets caught napping as Kivela dives in and scores a takedown. Vluehorn manages to retain guard.
Vluehorn keeping moving, preventing Kivela from controlling successfully.

Kivela thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Despite the aggression on Vluehorn's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

The crowd are getting on Vluehorn's back here. They're not happy about his lack of aggression in the clinch.

Kivela's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

and Vluehorn counters with a two punch combo.
Vluehorn stuffs the takedown.
Vluehorn moves in looking to clinch but Kivela pushes him off.
Kivela takes one on the button.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vluehorn pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Kivela swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Vluehorn looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

so Kivela counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Kivela is pressing down on Vluehorn's thigh, looking to free his foot. Vluehorn is holding on for now.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Kivela wants to work for an arm triangle but Vluehorn is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Vluehorn is trying to control but can't.
Kivela wants to control but Vluehorn is keeping him busy.

Kivela is looking for a kimura but Vluehorn is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kivela to get the leverage.

Kivela looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Vluehorn is not content to let Kivela control the position.
Vluehorn really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kivela. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Kivela is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Vluehorn defends it well.
Kivela is thwarting Vluehorn's attempts to control the position.

Vluehorn manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kivela manages to get himself to full guard.


Kivela is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Kivela seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Kivela looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Vluehorn is defending well. Kivela quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Vluehorn has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Kivela celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

A relieved looking Daniel Kivela thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
