Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Robert Hongo (ranked 7363 p4p, 393 weight class) and Bruce Allen (ranked 2760 p4p, 240 weight class). Robert Hongo has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Robert Hongo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bruce Allen!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Aleksandr Martynov and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Allen decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Allen looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Hongo wants to control but Allen is keeping busy.
Allen keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
It looks like Allen might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hongo shoots in for a double leg but Allen sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Allen scores with a takedown into Hongo's guard.
Allen controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hongo tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Allen not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Hongo looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Hongo can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Allen controls the pace.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Hongo throws a combination that misses

and Allen counters with a single leg into guard. Hongo didn't expect that.
Allen engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Allen's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Allen told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Allen scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Allen content to control rather than advance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bruce Allen dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Hongo tries to bum rush Allen with a series of wild strikes but Allen uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Hongo shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Allen but Allen pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Hongo tries to sprawl but Allen drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Hongo wants to get back to full guard.
Allen controlling the pace.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hongo is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Allen frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Allen tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Allen is continuing to stall.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
The adventures of Allen the control monster continue. Boring.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
More stalling from Allen.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Allen has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Hongo tries to hold on but Allen pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bruce Allen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Allen slips a jab and a cross from Hongo.
Allen tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Hongo closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Allen to the mat! Allen manages to get full guard.
Allen lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Allen controls from within his opponent's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hongo looking to control.
Allen slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Allen advances position into side control!
Allen takes a little break here. Hongo wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Robert Hongo has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Let's hope that Allen has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nice takedown defense from Hongo. No joy for Allen on that attempt.
It looked like Hongo was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Allen slaps away a takedown attempt from Hongo, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Hongo stuffs the takedown attempt from Allen. Allen gets slowly back to his feet.

Allen shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Hongo is trying to defend but Allen finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Allen slows the pace down in half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Allen takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Allen frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Allen takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Bruce Allen is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that's the end of the fight!
Bruce Allen comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Allen winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
