Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Hans Beck! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Piotr Karpinov! The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Ivan Kurochkin and Valeri Chadov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Karpinov lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Karpinov. Beck fails to land the takedown. Karpinov tries a head kick but it misses.
Nice takedown defense from Karpinov. No joy for Beck on that attempt. Beck shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hans Beck. That's going to take a lot out of him. Beck scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Karpinov lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
It looks like Hans Beck has been cut. Beck bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Beck tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Beck has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Karpinov struggling a bit here. Beck swings around for an armbar but Karpinov sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Beck's guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Karpinov looking to pass the guard. Beck utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Beck manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Karpinov manages to get himself to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Beck throwing strikes from guard but Karpinov blocks nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Karpinov working for a triangle but Beck defends it easily.

Karpinov looks gassed! Beck wants to control from the top but Karpinov keeps moving. Karpinov is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Beck pushing down on Karpinov's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Karpinov on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Beck wants to stand up but Karpinov is controlling the position.
Beck has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Beck is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Karpinov defends it well. Beck thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Karpinov's head. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Karpinov gets back to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Karpinov has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Beck can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Beck lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Karpinov escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Beck gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Karpinov had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Beck is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Karpinov Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Beck's back instead. Karpinov is trying to stick to Beck's back but Beck is turning into Karpinov. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Karpinov's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Beck. Karpinov looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Beck passes into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Karpinov is pressing down on Beck's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Karpinov keeping moving, preventing Beck from controlling successfully. Beck wants to pass the guard but Karpinov is keeping the position. Beck drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Karpinov dives on top into guard. Beck keeping moving, preventing Karpinov from controlling successfully. Karpinov drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Karpinov seems to have locked his on tight now - Beck screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Karpinov, as he picks up the win!
