Cormier kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is 226. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Cormier.
Read keeps the fight on the outside.
Cormier tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Read manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Cormier misses with a takedown attempt - Read sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Read lands an overhand right.
Cormier drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cormier wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Cormier tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
It seemed like Read was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

and Read cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

and Read counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Read slaps away a takedown attempt from Cormier, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Read throws an overhand right that drops Cormier like a sack of potatoes! Read dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!
