Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, George Linwood! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jrayden Johnson! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Chris Downing and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson tries to clinch up and Linwood counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Linwood fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Johnson, pushing him back against the cage. Johnson is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Linwood to keep the fight standing. Linwood prevents the takedown attempt.
Johnson changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Linwood fights it off and pushes away nicely.
George Linwood has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jrayden Johnson. Johnson goes for a double leg but Linwood avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Linwood continues to drive forward. Linwood tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. The fight stays on the outside here - Linwood looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Jrayden Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Johnson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Linwood shoots for a takedown but Johnson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Johnson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Linwood was covering up waiting for the punch and Johnson finishes the takedown easily into guard. Linwood is looking to stand up but Johnson isn't so interested in that idea.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson works over Linwood with some ground and pound from guard. Johnson chips away with some ground and pound. Johnson prevents Linwood from getting back to his feet. Johnson wants to control from the top but Linwood keeps moving. Linwood wants to stand and escape but Johnson is having none of it. Johnson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Johnson throws a strike but Linwood rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnson throws his legs up looking for a submission but Linwood uses it to pass to side control.
Johnson is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Linwood asserts his dominance and retains side control. Linwood stands up. Linwood dives in and grabs Johnson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Johnson pushes down on Linwood's head and hops out. Linwood fails with the takedown. Linwood gets a clinch. Johnson tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Johnson wants a takedown.
Linwood is defending well against a takedown attempt. Linwood is trying to break the clinch but Johnson has him pressed against the cage. Linwood jumps guard but Johnson turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Johnson wants a takedown but no success here.

Johnson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Johnson slips nicely into half guard. Johnson wants to control but Linwood is keeping him busy. Linwood wants to get back to his feet. Linwood kicks Johnson off and gets back to his feet. Johnson clinches with his opponent.
Johnson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Linwood is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Linwood tries a knee to the head but Johnson blocks it.
Johnson is defending well against a takedown attempt. Linwood is breathing heavily. Johnson turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Johnson manages to end up in side control. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Johnson is looking to take a break and control but Linwood is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Johnson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Linwood. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Linwood is trying to get back to his feet. Johnson cracks Linwood with a big right hand but Linwood just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Linwood takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Johnson trying to control the action but Linwood is working from the bottom. Linwood wants to get back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that George Linwood will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Johnson walks into a stiff left hand from Linwood. Linwood closes the distance and clinches up with Johnson, looking for a takedown. Linwood pushes Johnson against the cage but Johnson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Linwood closes the distance and lands a one-two. Linwood shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Johnson throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Linwood tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Johnson is in Linwood's guard. Johnson stands up over Linwood, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Johnson's corner is telling him to maintain position. Linwood is looking to stand up but Johnson isn't so interested in that idea. Johnson trying to control but Linwood is working from the bottom. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Johnson working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Linwood keeping moving, preventing Johnson from controlling successfully. Johnson is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Johnson trying to control but Linwood is working from the bottom. Johnson content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Linwood wants to stand and escape but Johnson is having none of it. Jrayden Johnson has got the better of the ground game so far. Johnson postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Johnson lands a couple of digs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnson is in close to Linwood's body, working some short punches and elbows. Johnson scoring with some ground and pound.
Linwood is rocked! Johnson loads up on a big left hand. Linwood felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Johnson looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Linwood can't hide his disappointment, as Johnson celebrates the victory.
