Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Spike Anderson (ranked 4913 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bryson Murdock (ranked 4912 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Spike Anderson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bryson Murdock! The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Colin Fray and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Anderson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Murdock. Murdock fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Anderson on the side of the head. Anderson misses with a takedown attempt and Murdock counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Murdock breaks from the clinch.
Anderson has taken the fight to the clinch.
Anderson has a couple of punches blocked by Murdock.
Anderson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Murdock tries to clinch but Anderson moves out of range. Anderson tries to clinch up. Murdock shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Anderson but Anderson pushes him off and we're back to square one. Anderson tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Murdock manages to circle out of the way. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Anderson throws a right hand that Murdock ducks under and follows up with a left that Murdock also avoids with ease. Nice takedown defense from Anderson. No joy for Murdock on that attempt. That's one minute gone in the round. Murdock using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Anderson has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Anderson tries to throw a body punch but Murdock avoids it by throwing Anderson back against the cage. Murdock's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Murdock tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Anderson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Anderson shoots in looking for a takedown but Murdock manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Anderson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Murdock gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Murdock ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Murdock no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Anderson is fighting to break Murdock's control of his arms but Murdock is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Murdock bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Anderson's guard. Murdock trying to control the position from guard on top but Anderson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Murdock got a little sloppy there for a moment and Anderson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Murdock has managed to get both his arms back between Anderson's legs - danger averted. Anderson trying to keep a closed guard but Murdock is proving a slippery customer.
Murdock is looking to work some ground and pound but Anderson has wrist control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Anderson has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Murdock is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position. Anderson slows down the pace here.
Murdock has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Anderson is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Murdock manages to pull guard.
Murdock controls Anderson momentarily but Anderson frees himself. Murdock keeping moving, preventing Anderson from controlling successfully. Murdock has his foot on Anderson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Anderson works his way back into a safe position though. Murdock controls Anderson momentarily but Anderson frees himself.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Anderson slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Murdock can't do much from the bottom here. Anderson goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Murdock rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Anderson's guard! Nice work there by Murdock! The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Murdock's corner is telling him to maintain position. Anderson pulls Murdock in close to prevent any damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Bryson Murdock will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Anderson tries to clinch up. Murdock forces Anderson back against the cage and clinches. Murdock tries to pull guard but Anderson holds him up against the cage and eventually Murdock drops back down to his feet.
Anderson jumps guard and drags Murdock to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Murdock trying to control the position from guard on top but Anderson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Murdock sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Anderson's guard. Anderson is staying active underneath Murdock, who seems content to just control the action from this position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Anderson is looking to improve his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Anderson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Anderson. Murdock passes into half guard. Murdock throwing shots but Anderson is blocking nicely. Murdock thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Anderson's head. Anderson tries to roll over but Murdock keeps him under control. Murdock is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Anderson manages to get to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Anderson thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Anderson is on top in guard.
Bryson Murdock has got the better of the ground game so far. Anderson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Murdock wants to hit a switch here but Anderson passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Murdock there! Murdock tries to hold on but Anderson postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Murdock is looking to get to half guard. Murdock slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Murdock trying to control here.
Anderson is keen to just control but Murdock is a slippery customer. Anderson decides to stand up. Murdock shoots in for a takedown but Anderson shows good takedown defense. No luck for Anderson with that takedown attempt.

Anderson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Murdock works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Anderson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Murdock is working an open guard so Anderson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Anderson throws a right hand that Murdock ducks under and follows up with a left that Murdock also avoids with ease. No luck for Anderson with that takedown attempt. Murdock blocks a head kick by Anderson.
Anderson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Murdock as he avoids it easily. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Anderson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Murdock sprawls well. Murdock wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Anderson gets slowly back to his feet. Murdock clinches with his opponent.
