Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Martin Eugen!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Santiago Holmes and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ahr takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Ahr showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Eugen.
Eugen sizes up Ahr with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Ahr shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Eugen defends it nicely.
Eugen throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Ahr looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Ahr working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Eugen can do anything to dispel that myth.
Eugen lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Ahr looking to hit a scissor sweep but Eugen is one step ahead there.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Ahr looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ahr is on top in guard.

Eugen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ahr. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

We've been hearing that Ahr has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Ahr distracts Eugen with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Ahr working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Eugen's head.

Ahr throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Eugen avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Ahr has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Ahr lands a couple of elbows.

Ahr postures up in Eugen's guard and throws a big left but Eugen blocks it.

Eugen told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
Ahr throws a strike but Eugen rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


Eugen avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ahr working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Eugen doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Eugen manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That was a close round but I would say that Gustav Ahr will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Eugen throws a looping overhand right but Ahr ducks down to avoid it.

Eugen lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Ahr closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Eugen prevents a takedown attempt there.
Eugen lands with a right to the head.
Eugen lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Ahr backwards.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ahr blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Oh Ahr is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Eugen unloads with a big right hand that wobbles Ahr! He's leaning against the cage trying to keep his feet but Eugen is unloading with more strikes now! Ahr drops to his knees and the referee stops the fight for a TKO!
