Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Liam James (ranked 3919 p4p, 479 weight class) and Mike Quick (ranked 6912 p4p, 626 weight class). James kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Come To Daddy by Aphex Twin. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Liam James! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Quick! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Quick throws a sloppy head kick and James moves out of range easily. Quick missing with a left hand there. James was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Mike Quick seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Quick thows a leg kick but James checks it and James counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. James lands a jab-cross combination.
It looks like Mike Quick has been cut. Donk. James catches Quick right on the button with a cross. James scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Some wild striking there from Quick.
James blocks a head kick by Quick.
James throws a lazy right hand but Quick sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Quick throws a head kick but James moves out of range.
Quick throws a hook to the side of James's head but James sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Quick walks into a left hand. Quick tries a head kick but it misses.
James displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. A head kick misses from Quick. Quick on the wrong end of a nice hook. Quick throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
James connects with a crisp jab. Quick fails to land with a series of punches.
It looked like James wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. James feints a jab promting Quick to slip. James then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Quick slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Quick is rocked! James smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Quick is still on wobbly legs! Can James finish him?
That's one minute gone in the round. James walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Quick drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! James swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Quick's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:11 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Liam James! A victorious Liam James thanked his army of followers in his post fight interview, telling people to make sure they follow him on Twitter.
