Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Brant Silva (ranked 24417 p4p, 0 weight class) and Igi Peterson (ranked 4497 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brant Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Igi Peterson!
The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Eliza Hachem and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Peterson manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Silva on his heels. He'll look to pass Silva's guard now, I'm sure.
Silva looking to hit a scissor sweep but Peterson is one step ahead there.
Peterson slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Silva knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Peterson on the ground.

Peterson stands up and waves to Silva to follow him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Peterson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Silva looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Silva striking from the bottom but nothing landed.
Silva avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Peterson.
You can see the frustration on Silva's face as Peterson controls the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Silva is looking to reverse the position.
Peterson fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Peterson just content to control the position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Peterson is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Silva has escaped the position, nice work there.
Peterson moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Silva tries to improve position but can't.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Peterson moves into the clinch successfully.

Peterson has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Silva is trying to keep an underhook but Peterson manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Peterson is controlling the pace.
Peterson wants to pass the guard but Silva is defending well.
Silva is pressing down on Peterson's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Peterson stands up from Silva's guard - Peterson perhaps looking for a knockout.

Peterson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Silva strikes from the bottom but Peterson takes advantage and advances to full mount!
Peterson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Let's hope that Peterson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Silva needs to keep his hands up - Peterson had a free shot at his head there.


It looks like Brant Silva has been cut.
Igi Peterson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Peterson pulls guard successfully.

Silva won't allow Peterson to sweep him here.
Peterson is pulling down on Silva's head. It's preventing any offense from Silva, at least for the moment.

Silva wants to control from the top but Peterson keeps moving.

Silva postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Peterson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Silva, into his guard.

Peterson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Peterson is continuing to stall.

Peterson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Peterson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Peterson shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Silva napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Peterson works to advance to full mount. Silva defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Silva is in all sorts of trouble here.

Peterson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Silva is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Igi Peterson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Brant Silva's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Peterson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Peterson showed some decent athleticism there.
Peterson throwing shots but Silva is blocking nicely.

Peterson decides to stand and escape the position.

Peterson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Silva was covering up waiting for the punch and Peterson finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Silva kicks Peterson off and gets to his feet.

Peterson throws a head kick that misses.
Silva thinks about countering with a head kick.
Peterson scores with a hook to the body. Silva takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Peterson drives through with a takedown into guard.
Peterson working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Silva controls Peterson momentarily but Peterson frees himself.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Peterson gets to his feet. Silva looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Peterson connects with a nice looking jab.

Silva misses with a right hand

and Peterson counters by clinching up.
Silva goes for a takedown in the clinch but Peterson prevents it.

Peterson pulls guard successfully.
Peterson has control of Silva's left arm, preventing Silva from doing any damage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Peterson working for a triangle but Silva defends it easily.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Peterson holds on and takes a little breather.

Silva loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Silva would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Peterson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Silva is aware though and is defending well.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Peterson throws a sloppy head kick and Silva moves out of range easily.
As Peterson backs away, Silva returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.

Peterson drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Peterson postures up.

Peterson stands and steps away. Silva gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Peterson takes a head kick and keeps coming.

Peterson moves into the clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Brant Silva has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Igi Peterson is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Igi Peterson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Peterson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
