Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Hamid Sourian (ranked 1819 p4p, 88 weight class) and Alvar Rautio (ranked 2045 p4p, 99 weight class). Sourian comes to the cage accompanied by Number One. Hamid Sourian has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Alvar Rautio!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Daniel Franklin and Dirk Anderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sourian misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Rautio.
Rautio avoids the body shot from Sourian.
Sourian slips a straight right by Rautio.

Sourian is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Rautio tries to score a power double leg takedown but Sourian sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Rautio somewhat.
Sourian tries to counter by clinching up but Rautio breaks away and moves out of range.

Sourian tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sourian has hold of one of Rautio's legs. Rautio is fighting the takedown attempt but Sourian gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sourian got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rautio has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Sourian has managed to get both his arms back between Rautio's legs - danger averted.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Sourian is working Rautio over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Sourian is in close to Rautio's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Rautio has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Temp Spar Gym. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
Rautio is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Rautio is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Sourian defends well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sourian accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Rautio escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sourian gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Rautio has his foot on Sourian's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sourian works his way back into a safe position though.

Rautio is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Rautio is still in real trouble! Can Sourian finish him?
Sourian will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Sourian passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Rautio seems to have recovered his senses.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rautio takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Sourian tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Sourian lands a strong strike to the head of Rautio. That's dazed him! Sourian looking to finish here. Rautio is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Sourian lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Hamid Sourian!
Hamid Sourian was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
