PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jarrod Sellers (ranked 25142 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raf Razos (ranked 6543 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Raf Razos was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jarrod Sellers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Raf Razos!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sellers tries to sprawl but Razos drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Sellers is trying to get back to full guard.
Sellers wants to sweep but Razos has passed to side control!

Razos thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Razos controlling the position from side mount.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sellers is looking to regain half guard here but Razos keeps moving and retains side control.

Razos has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Razos closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Sellers tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Razos just stands there and leans against the cage.
Sellers tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Razos manages to pull guard.
Sellers being controlled here momentarily.
Sellers throwing strikes from guard but Razos blocks nicely.
Sellers has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Sellers in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Razos looking to hit a scissor sweep but Sellers is one step ahead there.
Sellers keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Razos's head.
Sellers postures up in Razos's guard and throws a big left but Razos blocks it.
Sellers is looking to work some ground and pound but Razos has wrist control.
Razos bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sellers's guard.

Razos throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Razos throwing strikes but missing.

Sellers is wriggling around but Razos manages to pass to half guard.
Razos prevents Sellers from improving his position.
Razos uses his free foot to push down on Sellers's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Sellers.
Razos throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Sellers is wriggling around trying to escape.
Razos tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Razos is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Sellers has managed to escape the submission attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sellers has given up his back here.
Razos lands with a hammerfist to the side of Sellers's head.
Sellers is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Razos.
Sellers wants to control his opponent's hands but Razos gets his hands free.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Razos biding his time, controlling Sellers.
Sellers is trying to get back to his feet but Razos has full control of the position and if anything, Sellers has just worked his way into a worse spot.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Raf Razos dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Sellers kicks off Razos and gets to his feet.

Razos shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Razos showed some decent athleticism there.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Razos decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Razos feints and as Sellers raises his hands in defense, Razos changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Sellers working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Razos doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Razos manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Razos missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Sellers will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Razos controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Sellers with a couple of shots from the bottom there - nothing Razos can't handle though.
Sellers is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Razos engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Razos throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Sellers works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Razos trying to control but Sellers is working from the bottom.
Razos slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Razos stands up and waves to Sellers to follow him.

Razos clinches up against the cage.

Razos pulls guard effortlessly.
Sellers works over Razos with some ground and pound from guard.
Razos pulls Sellers in close to prevent any damage.
Sellers postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Razos is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Razos wants to sweep but no luck.
Razos avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Sellers really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Razos looking for a guillotine here but Sellers defends easily.

Razos wants to get back to his feet but Sellers is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Sellers postures up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Razos fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Razos has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sellers throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Razos's waist but Razos gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sellers off to one side.
Razos misses with a combination
and Sellers counters with a two punch combo.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Raf Razos will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Razos is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Sellers tries to roll over but Razos keeps him under control.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Sellers manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Razos clinches up against the cage.
Sellers stalling in the clinch but Razos improves position.
Sellers jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Razos walks away with a smile on his face. Sellers gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Razos gets a clinch.
Sellers fails to pull guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jarrod Sellers. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Sellers tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Razos smiles and moves away.

Sellers gets tackled into the cage by Razos. Razos maintains the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sellers wants to get back to striking at distance but Razos won't allow it.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Razos just misses with a elbow thrown towards Sellers's brow.

Razos has clasped his hands together around Sellers's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Sellers wants to get back to his feet but Razos is dominant here and he's now got Sellers's back!
Sellers is really stuck here.
Sellers has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Razos.
Good control from Razos.
Razos lands a shot to the body.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

Razos trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
Razos missing with punches from the back.

Razos doesn't have the hooks in and Sellers manages to turn into his guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Raf Razos comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Razos winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
