Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hafid Lumihi (ranked 24280 p4p, 0 weight class) and Felix Smith (ranked 6103 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hafid Lumihi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Felix Smith !
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Robert Twigg and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lumihi closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Smith 's guard.
Lumihi controls from within his opponent's guard.
Our spies down at at Cozad MMA Las Vegas inform us that Smith has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Lumihi keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Smith 's head.
Lumihi seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Lumihi drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Smith manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Lumihi has Smith in his guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lumihi is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Smith is controlling him.

Smith trying to control but Lumihi is working from the bottom.
Lumihi has Smith pulled in close to control his posture.
Lumihi knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Smith on the ground.
Smith trying to control the position from guard on top but Lumihi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Lumihi throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Smith drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Smith jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Smith looks winded!
Smith wants to pass the guard but Lumihi is keeping the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lumihi wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Lumihi shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Lumihi is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Smith sees it coming and defends easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Smith is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Lumihi scores with a couple of nice shots.
Lumihi tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Smith tries to get to full guard but Lumihi has control of the leg.
Smith tries to kick Lumihi off but Lumihi keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Well, if Lumihi is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Lumihi is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Smith doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Lumihi.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Smith wants to control but Lumihi is keeping busy.
Lumihi trying to control the pace.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hafid Lumihi dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Lumihi shoots in looking for a takedown. Smith tries to sprawl out of it but Lumihi keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Smith manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
The crowd cheers as Lumihi lands an impressive looking overhand right. Smith doesn't seem phased though.

Lumihi moves into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lumihi throws an elbow but it misses.
Lumihi lands with a short shot to the head.
Lumihi looking to stall.
Lumihi tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Smith just stands there and leans against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A frustrated look appears on Lumihi's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Smith is looking for a takedown.
Lumihi stalling in the clinch.
Smith wants a takedown.
Smith is breathing heavily.
Lumihi tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Smith smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hafid Lumihi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lumihi lands a nice hook to Smith 's body. Smith takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Lumihi is looking to clinch but Smith is avoiding it.

Lumihi is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Lumihi tries to free his leg and advance position but Smith is retaining full guard.
Lumihi controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Lumihi trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Smith is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Lumihi is controlling him.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Hafid Lumihi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Lumihi shoots in and bounces Smith off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Lumihi wanted to stand there but Smith had control of the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Excellent takedown into side control there by Lumihi.

Smith takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Smith keeps the fight on the outside.
And Smith tries to counter it with a takedown but Lumihi pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Lumihi looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Lumihi seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Smith is trying to stand.
Lumihi is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Smith can do to turn this around?
Lumihi wants to pass to mount but Smith is defending the position.

Lumihi seems to be working for a kimura but Smith defends the submission attempt.
Smith wants to get back to his feet.

Lumihi working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Lumihi is working for a submission of some sort.
Smith tries to roll over but Lumihi keeps him under control.
Lumihi looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Lumihi stops Smith from getting back to his feet.

Lumihi wants to free his trapped foot but Smith is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Smith looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Smith with a poor takedown
and Lumihi counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Lumihi feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.


Smith is rocked!
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Lumihi's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Smith is still in real trouble! Can Lumihi finish him?
Lumihi wants to pass the guard but Smith is keeping the position.
Lumihi passes Smith 's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Lumihi is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lumihi seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Lumihi slips a nice elbow through Smith 's hands, connecting with Smith 's forehead.
Lumihi perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Hafid Lumihi overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Lumihi lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Well Lumihi has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
