Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Alika Hakekia (ranked 2467 p4p, 273 weight class) and Vrej Nazaryan (ranked 2201 p4p, 244 weight class). Nazaryan is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: DVBBS & Borgeous - Tsunami. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are George Francis, Cecil Peabody and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nazaryan connects with the punch.
Hakekia takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Hakekia lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Nazaryan at a distance.
Nazaryan misses with a left hand
enabling Hakekia to counter with a crisp jab.
Nazaryan misses with a combination
and Hakekia counters with a slapping leg kick.
Left hook, right uppercut from Nazaryan.
Nazaryan lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hakekia circles away quickly and effectively.
Nazaryan looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Nazaryan takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hakekia lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Hakekia takes one to the chin there.
Nazaryan scores with a nice right hand.
Nazaryan tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Hakekia looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Nazaryan misses with a low kick.

Nazaryan throws the left hand but Hakekia avoids the punch easily.
Some bone on bone action there as Nazaryan checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

A nice leg kick lands there from Nazaryan.
Nazaryan defending well as Hakekia loads up on a big left hand.

and Hakekia counters with a good, hard body kick but Nazaryan shrugs it off.
Nazaryan throws a push kick but Hakekia slaps the foot to one side.
Hakekia avoids the head kick by Nazaryan.
Nazaryan misses with a combination
and Hakekia counters with a nice uppercut.
Nazaryan throws a shot from downtown. Hakekia moves away and avoids it.
Hakekia takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Nazaryan lands with a shot to the body.
Nazaryan avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Vrej Nazaryan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hakekia lands with a straight right. Nazaryan didn't see that one coming.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nazaryan lands with a right hand.
Hakekia jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Hakekia is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Hakekia takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Hakekia's corner calls for a 1-2. Hakekia obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Nazaryan is rocked!
A telegraphed right hand from Nazaryan misses the target.
Nazaryan throws a lazy body kick
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Hakekia.
Hakekia showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Nazaryan.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hakekia wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Hakekia feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Nazaryan sprawling to the canvas! Nazaryan rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Hakekia finish him?!
Nazaryan is still on wobbly legs! Can Hakekia finish him?
Hakekia blocks a jab.
Nazaryan throws a body punch but Hakekia moves out of range.
Hakekia fakes the leg kick and throws a superman punch. It's knocked Nazaryan out cold! Brutal finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Superman Punch). Alika Hakekia!
Alika Hakekia decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
The defeated Vrej Nazaryan had this to say: 'He was the better man today. I need to look at the tapes and figure out what went wrong but dont you worry I will be back.'.
