McGuire comes to the cage accompanied by Metallica - Enter Sandman . Karelis has chosen Sail - AwolNation as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

With a record of 24 - 18 - 1, fighting out of New York, Kostas Karelis!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Steve Montenegro and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McGuire has taken the fight to the clinch.

Karelis pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Karelis has closed the distance and engaged McGuire in a clinch.
Karelis tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
McGuire tries to break the clinch but Karelis is controlling the position.

McGuire's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

McGuire clinches up with Karelis and pushes him back against the cage.

McGuire manages to break the clinch.
McGuire closes the distance but Karelis moves to the side
and Karelis counters with a lovely straight right hand!
McGuire tries to close the distance and clinch up but Karelis swats him away and circles back towards the center.
A countering left hand to the body from Karelis misses.

McGuire closes the distance and pushes Karelis back into the cage.
Karelis throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but McGuire blocks it with crossed arms.

McGuire blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

McGuire pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
McGuire is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.


It looks like James McGuire has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
McGuire tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Karelis lands a nice looking kick to the body. McGuire takes a step back to recover.

McGuire closes the distance and pushes Karelis back into the cage.

McGuire tries for a takedown but Karelis manages to get underhooks.
McGuire blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Karelis misses with a punch to the body.

McGuire escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Karelis lands a nice looking body shot.
Karelis misses with a wild body shot.

McGuire darts in and clinches Karelis up against the cage.

James McGuire seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

McGuire moves into the clinch.
Karelis keeps control of McGuire as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
McGuire is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Karelis is defending well for now.

McGuire is trying to force a seperation but Karelis has the dominant position.
McGuire is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Karelis lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

McGuire manages to break the clinch.

and McGuire counters with a lovely shot to the body.

and Karelis connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

The fight stays on the outside here - McGuire looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Karelis throws out a counter right but McGuire avoids it with no problem.

McGuire throws a right and a left that both miss.
Karelis ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Karelis throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Karelis moves into range and clinches up with McGuire.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Karelis.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Karelis's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
McGuire keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.


It looks like Kostas Karelis has been cut.
Karelis keeps the fight on the outside.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Kostas Karelis will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

and McGuire counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Karelis walks forward, straight into a front kick from McGuire.
McGuire tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Karelis cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
McGuire connects with a jab.
Karelis fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Decent striking displayed by McGuire there.
McGuire throws a sloppy head kick and Karelis moves out of range easily.
McGuire cracks Karelis with a hook to the temple - Karelis is on wobbly legs here! McGuire swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Karelis falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! McGuire wins by TKO!
