PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Hill (ranked 52 p4p, 2 weight class) and Samuel Nti (ranked 69 p4p, 3 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Hill!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Samuel Nti!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Paul Tew and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hill fails with a takedown attempt.
Nti leaves Hill with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Hill feints and as Nti raises his hands in defense, Hill changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Hill controls from within his opponent's guard.
Nti trying to control the position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Nti can do anything to dispel that myth.
Nti pulls Hill in to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hill accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Hill wants to control from the top but Nti keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hill preventing the sweep.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nti has control of Hill's left arm, preventing Hill from doing any damage.
Hill working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Nti's head.
Nti has his hands on Hill's head, controlling the position.
Hill with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Nti really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hill. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Nti is trying to keep Hill in close.
Hill working some strikes from top position.
Nti has his hands on Hill's head, controlling the position.
Hill distracts Nti with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Hill throws a big elbow that misses.
Nti controlling the position.
Hill landing with the ground and pound.
Nti pulls Hill in close to his closed guard and prevents Hill from doing any damage or advancing position.
Hill loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Hill content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Hill will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Hill wants to pass the guard but Nti is keeping the position.

Hill pushes down on Nti's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Nti is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Hill is controlling the pace.
Nti wants to improve his position but Hill is controlling well.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hill connects with a nice short shot to Nti's temple.
Hill is thwarting Nti's attempts to control the position.
Nti is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Nti is looking to control Hill's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Nti avoid being mounted?

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hill with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Nti has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hill is working away from the top position though.
Hill wants to pass to mount but Nti is defending the position.
Nti on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Nti is trying to control but can't.
Nti taking some punishment here, with Hill in his half guard.
Hill is thwarting Nti's attempts to control the position.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Hill lands a nice short elbow.
Hill throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Nti is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Hill slips a nice elbow through Nti's hands, connecting with Nti's forehead.
Nti won't allow Hill to pass to mount.
Hill is thwarting Nti's attempts to control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nti is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Hill scores with a couple of nice shots.
Hill has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Hill working over Nti with some ground and pound. Nti looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Hill working the head and body with strikes.
Hill with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Hill landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Nti trying to control from the bottom.
Hill is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Nti is trying to maintain the position but Hill is very close to passing his half guard.
Hill lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hill connects with a nice short shot to Nti's temple.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
Hill looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Hill seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Nti does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Nti is looking to improve his position.
Nti is holding on to half guard well.
Hill looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Nti with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mark Hill dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Nice uppercut there from Nti.
Hill is trying hard to land a takedown here. Nti sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Nti swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Nti scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Nti has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Nice takedown defense from Nti. No joy for Hill on that attempt.
Hill fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Nti avoids it really well and circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Hill. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jab, jab by Nti - just one landing.
Hill is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.
Hill takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Nti swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Hill throws a body shot but no joy.
Nti looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Hill fails with a takedown attempt.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nti lunges at Hill with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Hill's hand.


It looks like Mark Hill has been cut.
Nti throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Hill sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Hill goes for a double leg but Nti avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Nti continues to drive forward.
Hill is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Nti can do to turn this around?
Nti thows a left - swing and a miss!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hill doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Hill misses the jab.
Nti cracks a nice hook into Hill's ribs.

Nti tries to sprawl but Hill drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Hill is trying to control. Nti wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Nti is trying to get back to full guard.
Nti is not content to let Hill control the position.
Nti controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Hill works his foot free and advances to mount.
Nti tries to lock up and control but Hill gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Nti is wriggling around trying to escape.
Hill cracks Nti with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.


It looks like Samuel Nti has been cut.
Hill lands a nice shot to the head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hill putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!


That has opened up Samuel Nti's cut even more.
Nti wants to control but Hill is having none of it.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Hill cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Hill landing strikes, looking to finish!
Nti is working to get back to half guard.
Hill looking to finish Nti with some ground and pound. This is bad for Nti!
Hill pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.


The cut above Samuel Nti's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Samuel Nti's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Mark Hill!
A relieved looking Mark Hill thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
