Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
21 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bobby Sands! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pentti Pentele! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Daniel Franklin and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sands throws a right hand that Pentele ducks under and follows up with a left that Pentele also avoids with ease. Sands takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Pentele misses the shot to the body. Pentele comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Sands lands a jab to the head.
Pentele lands a nice shot that snaps Sands's head back.
Pentele ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Sands fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Pentele to the ground. Sands is now in Pentele's guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Sands tries to free his leg and advance position but Pentele is retaining full guard. Pentele avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Pentele utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Pentele wriggles free and stands up. Pentele connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Sands takes a jab right on the kisser.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sands with a poor takedown and Pentele counters with a series of strikes. Sands will be more careful next time no doubt. Pentele has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Sands fails to land with a series of punches.
Pentele lands with a good body shot. Pentele works Sands's body with a nice hook. Pentti Pentele is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Pentele scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Pentele darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Sands needs to keep his hands up - Pentele had a free shot at his head there. Pentele lands with a shot to the body. Sands seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! A big right from Sands misses. Sands walks into a straight right hand from Pentele. Sands slips a jab and a cross from Pentele.

Pentele can't do much from the bottom here. Pentele might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Sands haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Sands lands a few punches from side control. Sands wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pentele keeps working. Sands throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Sands creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Pentele sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Sands misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Sands throwing shots but Pentele is blocking nicely. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sands prevents Pentele from standing back up.
Sands not landing any meaningful shots this time. Sands wants to control but Pentele is keeping him busy. Sands thows a huge punch but Pentele dodges it nicely.
Pentele tries to kick Sands off but Sands keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Sands throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Pentele makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Pentele. Pentele working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Sands. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Pentti Pentele dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

We're now in half guard. Pentele has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Pentele keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Sands thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Pentele avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Sands. Pentele pushes Sands off looking to stand but Sands dives back in and keeps control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sands trying to control the action but Pentele is working from the bottom. Sands working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Sands thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Pentele's head. Sands has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Pentele has other ideas though and has regained full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sands slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Sands throws a big elbow that misses. Sands stands up from guard. Let's bang! Sands throws a lazy right hand but Pentele sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Pentele unleashes a big counter combination but Sands bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. Sands on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Sands dodges the punch combination from Pentele.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Sands tries to clinch but Pentele is having none of it. Pentele ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Sands moves away. Sands checks the leg kick. Pentele scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Pentti Pentele seems to be getting the better of the standup. Sands shoots and misses and Pentele counters with a nice body shot. Sands shoots in and drives through. Pentele sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bobby Sands. That's going to take a lot out of him. Pentele moves out of range as Sands strikes. Sands looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Pentele is fending him off so far but Sands persists. Nope, Pentele circles away and we're back to standing. Sands misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Pentele.
Nice sprawl there from Pentele as Sands shoots in. Pentele is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Sands rather than just go for the knockout. Good standup being displayed there by Pentele as he connects with a hook. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Sands tries to clinch but Pentele moves out of range. Sands ducks right into an uppercut from Pentele. Pentele moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Sands walks into a straight right hand from Pentele. Sands looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. Sands tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Pentele is defending well against a takedown attempt. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Pentele. Sands gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Sands is looking to work some ground and pound but Pentele has wrist control. Pentele controlling Sands's posture. Sands scoring with some ground and pound.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Sands loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Bobby Sands overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Bobby Sands has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Sands trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Sands has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Pentele. Pentele lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Sands at a distance.
Sands changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pentele tries to avoid it but Sands manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pentele to the ground. Pentele escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. A little jabbing left from Pentele on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Pentele lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

And that's the end of the fight! Pentti Pentele comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Pentele winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
