TWGC 24 (135lbs, D2): Finals - Round 2 PBP Commentary


Coming up we have a bantamweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Aaron Hoyle (ranked 4126 p4p, 0 weight class) and The Bandit (ranked 1615 p4p, 156 weight class). Bandit has chosen Mardial - Hypegone ft. Gbrand as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the bantamweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 0 losses; Aaron Hoyle! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 1 losses; The Bandit!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Andrew Berry and Colin Fotheringham.

Hoyle drives through and clinches with Bandit against the cage.
Bandit is trying to drag Hoyle to the mat but Hoyle just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Bandit seems to be working for a kimura but Hoyle defends the submission attempt.
Hoyle wants to improve his position but Bandit is controlling well.
Bandit is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Hoyle has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Bandit is working away from the top position though.
Hoyle is looking for a sweep. Bandit is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bandit is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Hoyle is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Hoyle has escaped and now he's on top!

Bandit isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Hoyle stacks Bandit on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Hoyle!

Bandit is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Hoyle gets his way!

Well, with Bandit on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Hoyle is tapping out... Can he escape the position?

Aaron Hoyle really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Sportivité logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
