Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Chad Mendew (ranked 3210 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tai Whishermann (ranked 4069 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Chad Mendew has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Chad Mendew seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Chad Mendew!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tai Whishermann!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Sam Margolis and Phil Schofield.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whishermann keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Whishermann has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Mendew looks for a takedown but Whishermann sprawls well.
And Whishermann tries to counter it with a takedown but Mendew pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Mendew closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Whishermann did well to prevent Mendew getting side control.
Whishermann is looking for a sweep. Mendew is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Whishermann has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Mendew is working away from the top position though.
Mendew missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Mendew looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Whishermann with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Mendew thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Whishermann's head.
Mendew looks to land a strike but Whishermann avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Mendew stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Whishermann throws up his legs and catches Mendew in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Mendew tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Whishermann! That came out of nowhere!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Tai Whishermann!
A very excited looking Tai Whishermann rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
