PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Hulk Hogan (ranked 2189 p4p, 284 weight class) and David Ngoss (ranked 2685 p4p, 322 weight class). Hogan comes to the cage accompanied by My Time Is Now. David Ngoss told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Hulk Hogan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, David Ngoss! The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Sandra Marshall and Bart Greer.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hogan misses the shot to the body. Ngoss tries to clinch but Hogan is having none of it. Hogan shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Ngoss is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hogan is aware though and is defending well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hogan postures up in Ngoss's guard and throws a big left but Ngoss blocks it. Hogan cracks Ngoss with a solid left hand. Hogan missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Hogan throws a strike but Ngoss rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Ngoss won't allow Hogan to sweep him here. Hogan keeping moving, preventing Ngoss from controlling successfully. Hogan looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Hogan wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Ngoss is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Ngoss trying to control but Hogan is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hogan keeping full guard, as Ngoss tries to pass. Hogan is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ngoss won't allow Hogan to sweep him here. Ngoss thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Ngoss drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ngoss jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Ngoss looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Hogan seems keen to control Ngoss's posture. Hogan tries to land a sweep but no joy. Hogan manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ngoss manages to get himself to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Hogan tries to free his leg and advance position but Ngoss is retaining full guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hogan accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Hogan is looking to work some ground and pound but Ngoss has wrist control. Ngoss working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Hogan. Hogan has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Hogan working some strikes from top position. Ngoss has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hogan can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Hogan connects with a couple of short punches. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hogan accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Hogan might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Hogan throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Hogan postures up.

Hogan with a flurry of punches that miss. Ngoss is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hogan scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Ngoss escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hogan gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Hogan throwing strikes from guard but Ngoss blocks nicely. Hogan is looking to work some ground and pound but Ngoss has wrist control. Hogan is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Hogan lands a couple of elbows. Hogan trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Ngoss avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Ngoss looking for a guillotine here but Hogan defends easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Hogan keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Ngoss's head. Hogan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Ngoss working for submissions but it's allowed Hogan to get to half guard.
Hogan lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ngoss can do anything to dispel that myth. Hogan prevents Ngoss from improving his position. Hogan lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Hogan drops an elbow to the side of Ngoss's head. Hogan lands strikes from half guard. Hogan lands a big elbow - Ngoss is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Hogan!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Hulk Hogan! A relieved looking Hulk Hogan thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
