Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pablo Ayers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sam Wellington!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Felipe Paraventi and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wellington throws a series of punches but Ayers moves out of range.
Ayers throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Wellington stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Wellington drives through and clinches with Ayers against the cage.
Wellington has Ayers pushed against the cage.
Ayers really is a fat lump.
Ayers stops a takedown attempt from Wellington.

Wellington pulls guard.

Ayers gets to his feet - Wellington follows without any prompting.
Wellington shoots in but Ayers avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Ayers appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ayers scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Wellington tries to get to full guard but Ayers has control of the leg.

Wellington pushes Ayers off and gets back to his feet.
Wellington throws a head kick but Ayers moves out of range.
As Wellington looks to move away, Ayers throws a big counter combo but Wellington just gets out of the way.
Wellington gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Ayers decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Wellington's guard.

Wellington wriggles free and stands up.
Pablo Ayers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sam Wellington.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ayers throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Wellington's waist but Wellington gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ayers off to one side.
Wellington goes for a double leg but Ayers avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Ayers continues to drive forward.

Ayers tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Wellington swivels and escapes.
Ayers misses with an uppercut. Wellington saw that one coming.
Ayers shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Wellington as he avoids it easily.

Wellington closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Ayers's guard.
Ayers has his hands on Wellington's head, controlling the position.
Wellington tries to stand but Ayers is controlling from the bottom.

Ayers is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wellington bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ayers's guard.

Ayers seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Sam Wellington has got the better of the ground game so far.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Wellington.
As Wellington tries to get set, Ayers tries to push him back and clinch up but Wellington manages to avoid the attempt.
Wellington stuffs the takedown attempt from Ayers. Ayers gets slowly back to his feet.
Ayers shoots in for a double leg but Wellington sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Ayers avoids the head kick by Wellington.

Ayers tries to keep at a distance but Wellington has taken the fight into the clinch.

Ayers shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Wellington as he jumps to the side.

Wellington is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Ayers can't fight it off and eventually Wellington manages to take the fight to the floor. Ayers looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Well Wellington has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
