Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Richie Boston (ranked 6894 p4p, 512 weight class) and Veikko Pilvi (ranked 15021 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Pilvi's choice of entrance music: Faded. Veikko Pilvi is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Richie Boston! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
25 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Veikko Pilvi! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Stewart Dunkirk and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pilvi has managed to clinch.
Boston swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Pilvi drags the fight down to the ground.
Boston has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Pilvi controlling the position. Boston throws a big right hand that misses. Boston won't allow Pilvi to sweep him here. Pilvi is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Pilvi escapes and gets back to his feet. Pilvi darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Boston is looking to get back to is feet but Pilvi passes into side control.
Boston has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Boston bucks up and tries to throw Pilvi off but instead Pilvi has got his back! Well, with Pilvi on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Boston is tapping out... Can he escape the position?
That's one minute gone in the round. Pilvi has good solid back control here. Boston trying to get back to his feet but Pilvi is in full control for now. Pilvi is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Boston has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here. Pilvi controls the action.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Boston tries to roll but Pilvi sticks to his back.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Pilvi controlling the positon. Boston is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet. Pilvi controls the action. Boston can't escape the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Pilvi has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Boston has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Boston rolls, trying to escape but Pilvi keeps control of the position.
Pilvi has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Boston's body.
Pilvi patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here? Boston knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pilvi on the ground. Pilvi biding his time, looking for the opening.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Boston trying to control the position but Pilvi manages to sink in the hooks. Pilvi lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Boston hold on?!

Boston is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Pilvi gets his way!

Boston tries to clinch but Pilvi moves away and Pilvi counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Boston! Boston seems a little lost for a moment, as Pilvi dominates the positioning. Boston avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Pilvi. Pilvi tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Pilvi advances nicely into full mount. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pilvi controlling from mount. Boston trying desperately to get to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Pilvi biding his time, looking for the opening.
Pilvi has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. Pilvi patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here? You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Boston remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Pilvi will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Boston trying to control the hands but Pilvi won't let him. Pilvi is working hard for the rear naked choke here.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Pilvi lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Veikko Pilvi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Boston tries to reverse the position but Pilvi maintains control. Pilvi looking to control and managing it successfully. Pilvi scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Pilvi wants to finish this one by submission but Boston is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Pilvi. Boston tries to improve his position but instead Pilvi has taken his back!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Boston manages to reverse the position and now he's in Pilvi's guard. Nice work there by Boston.
Pilvi throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Pilvi bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Boston's guard.
Veikko Pilvi is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Pilvi has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Boston being controlled here, momentarily. Pilvi's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pilvi throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Boston works some decent striking defense from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pilvi sitting in guard, not really doing much. Richie Boston has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
And that's the end of the fight! Veikko Pilvi comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Pilvi has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Veikko Pilvi! In his post fight interview, Veikko Pilvi started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
