PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kenichi Uzomaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ali Turko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ali Turko told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kenichi Uzomaki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ali Turko!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yukihiro Shimada and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Uzomaki shoots in for a double leg but Turko sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Uzomaki shoots for a takedown but Turko saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Uzomaki shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Turko pinned against the cage. Turko gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kenichi Uzomaki. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Turko slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Turko stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Uzomaki swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Turko takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

I looks like Turko might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Despite being in the dominant position, Ali Turko just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Uzomaki had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Turko is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Uzomaki Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Turko's back instead.

Uzomaki quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Turko has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Uzomaki celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
