Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ryan Del Oeste! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Russell Westbrook! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Wesley Smith and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Del Oeste smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Del Oeste thows a leg kick but Westbrook checks it and Westbrook counters with a nice body shot. Westbrook looks to land a left hand but Del Oeste moved out of range nicely. Del Oeste connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Del Oeste lands a head shot. Del Oeste misses with an uppercut. Westbrook saw that one coming. Del Oeste shoots in and bounces Westbrook off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Westbrook is trying to keep Del Oeste in close.
Del Oeste wants to control from the top but Westbrook keeps moving. Del Oeste won't allow Westbrook to sweep him here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Del Oeste trying to control but Westbrook is working from the bottom. Del Oeste passes into half guard. Del Oeste lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Westbrook regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Del Oeste. Del Oeste slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Del Oeste swings around for an armbar but Westbrook sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Del Oeste's guard. Del Oeste looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Westbrook passes into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Westbrook moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Del Oeste. Westbrook is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Del Oeste's shoulder. That is not cool. Del Oeste is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Westside Martial Arts, so we'll see if he gets out of it. Del Oeste can't do much from the bottom here. Del Oeste is looking for a sweep.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Del Oeste manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Westbrook avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Del Oeste. Westbrook wants to control but Del Oeste is keeping busy.
Del Oeste has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Westbrook defend it? Del Oeste steps over the head and cranks it - Westbrook is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Del Oeste!
