Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Veikko Pilvi!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Stewart Dunkirk and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pilvi bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Veitayaki is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Pilvi has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Pilvi passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Veitayaki!
Veitayaki is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Pilvi throws a sloppy strike and Veitayaki uses the opportunity to reverse the position! A bit of a scramble here and Veitayaki has ended up in Pilvi's guard.

Pilvi manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Veitayaki manages to get himself to full guard.


Pilvi drops back looking for a leg! Veitayaki is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Veitayaki manages to kick Pilvi off! Pilvi jumps back into Veitayaki's guard.

Pilvi has closed the distance and engaged Veitayaki in a clinch.
Pilvi has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Pilvi breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
No joy there for Veitayaki, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Veitayaki connects with a body shot that sends Pilvi's belly button to the back.
No luck for Pilvi with that takedown attempt.

Pilvi lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Rupeni Veitayaki is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Pilvi looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Veitayaki is fending him off so far but Pilvi persists. Nope, Veitayaki circles away and we're back to standing.

Veitayaki stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Veitayaki wants it to stay on the feet.

and Pilvi counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Veitayaki throws a right and a left that Pilvi avoids nicely.
Veitayaki smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Rupeni Veitayaki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Pilvi scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Pilvi is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Veitayaki looks calm but he's in trouble here. Pilvi gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Veitayaki is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Pilvi lets go of the hold and Veitayaki can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Veikko Pilvi!
Veikko Pilvi decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
Rupeni Veitayaki was interviewed post fight and said ' Aloha'.
